So… I arrived in St Lucia on Monday 6th April for a 12 day holiday, and it literally is like heaven on earth! I can honestly say I have NEVER been anywhere quite like it!
From my last post, I was obviously very apprehensive about the flight, but i have to admit it was a great flight. I found the seats pretty comfortable and quite roomy and the 8.5 hours passed quite quickly…… probably helped along by the amount of food and drink that they kept thrusting onto us!
I made the fatal error of watching ‘The Theory of Everything’ whilst on the plane, and managed to wake my daughter up with my crying! By the end of the film, my cat eyeliner and mascara was smeared somewhere down by my chin. But I thoroughly recommend the film, and Eddie Redmayne was amazing in the lead role.
We arrived at around 2pm St Lucian time (7pm UK) and immediately got the swimwear out. I wore a black and white polka dot costume with a slightly vintage feel about it. I bought this at Asda last year, and it’s a great costume. They have some really fabulous ones on sale this year, and amazing prices too.
Bringing a lot of vintage swing dresses wasn’t really feasible, but I did bring a couple for the two occasions that I knew we were eating at formal restaurants.
Both of these came from Pin Up Girl Clothing in the USA. The turquoise ‘Sea Siren’ and the Harlequin ‘Jenny’ dress in black purple and green. I absolutely love both of these dresses, and brought them back in November specifically for my holiday.
I managed to get them on Black Friday, with 30% off and fixed shipping of only $30. I did get hit with a bit of Import Duty on arrival in the UK, but the savings I made offset that, so I did OK.
I have my eye on quite a few other dresses from Pin Up Girl clothing, however unless I win the lottery or find myself a new job, I will have to wait until I have saved up!
St Lucia has been the most amazing holiday, and the fact that it has been the whole family of 10 here, including my Brother in Law from Seoul, South Korea AND my Sister In Law from Oregon, really has made it a special time.
We are due to leave in 2 days, however there is still more dancing, activities, and good times to be had. I intend to make the most of every second left.
I’ve wore my Fatkini’s, Wraps, Sarongs and as many hair flowers as I could get into my suitcase. Most of these were gifted to me by Pearles Petals – a wonderfully lovely lady who makes amazing hair flowers, and at amazingly low prices too! Check her out on Facebook and Instagram. A Full post on these will follow later.
The only slight downside to my visit has the water has totally stripped the red out of my hair! I am now sporting blonde/ginger stripes instead. A trip to the hairdressers on my return I think!
This fatkini was purchased at Tesco around 4 months ago. It comes with a separate pair of pink or lilac high waisted bottoms. I have to admit, the halter neck style was a little hard going on my neck, due to my breast size, however it would be perfect for people on a smaller scale
All in all, my fears on my previous post never came to pass. As a plus size woman, the travelling, heat, chub rub, and clothing out of my comfort zone never materialised, and I realised life really is too short.
So go out there, live life large and let the World know that you are plus size and proud!
