Last year I attended my first ever Plus Size Event as a Blogger – The Curvy Convention.
Held in London in May, I attended on my own not knowing what to expect at all. I was both excited and nervous, as a lot of the plus size community that I followed, read blogs by, and admired were all planning on being there.
I had the most amazing time, met lots of people that I had followed from afar, and was invited to tag along when everyone left the Convention. Had I not have attended, I wouldn’t have been invited into the plus size community quite so easily.
I even had the pleasure of taking part in a Burlesque Workshop held by the amazing Fabia Cerra! What an absolute rush!
Whilst I was at the start of my body positivity I wasn’t quite as confident as I am now. A couple of things “threw” me during the day, and I got a little anxious and tense.
I think this was due to it being an alien environment, with a room full of strangers and bloggers/PS women that I had been admiring from afar. I felt very out of my depth, and also very unsure of my “place”
I was wrong to ever feel like that. The ladies there were absolutely AMAZING. They welcomed me with open arms, and invited me to join along with them.
I made lots of friends, bought some great clothes, exchanged lots of blog details and numbers and to top it off had burgers with the bloggers and went shopping with them! If you’d like to read my Curvy Convention adventure from last year, – Click Here
This year will be a different kettle of fish! I have been blogging for over a year now, have made lots of friends in the blogging and plus size world, and can’t wait to spend the day surrounded by everything that is good and curvy!
Being held on May 28th at St John at Hackney from 1030am – 7pm, there will be Catwalks, Curvy models, all the big brands and more. It really will be a Big Girl’s Paradise!
A few ladies that I have come to know well are even modelling on the Catwalk. I honestly can’t wait to see them strutting their stuff, and you know I will be cheering them on loudly. It is absolutely amazing that something as body positive and just for women exactly like me and my friends are.
I know the day will bring lots of wonderful experiences, from looking at the brands offering women exactly what we want, to positive proud women on the Catwalk. Seriously this really is an event that you do not want to miss out on!
