Last week I had the pleasure of a lovely email from an old friend. I hadn’t really heard from Rachel in years, apart from the odd Facebook interaction, so to get an email out of the blue was a bit of a surprise.
Rachel contacted me on behalf of the company she is Business Manager for, Shoetique to ask if I would be interested in reviewing any of their products. Well, as a girl who loves her shoes, I could hardly say no!
Shoetique have an amazing selection of footwear, with everything from Toms to Timberlands, Havaianas to Hunters! I seriously was challenged to narrow things down to a few pairs that I could let Rachel know that I was interested in.
One of the things that Shoetique is amazing for, is that it has one of the largest ranges of FitFlops of any UK retailer – currently over 300 items alone!!! I was absolutely amazed by the range they had, and decided that FitFlops would be a product I would love to try.
Now, you might ask, why FitFlops? After all, they don’t really go with my vintage style dresses which I wear constantly when not in uniform. Well, Fitflops do so much more than just sandals, in fact shoes, slippers AND even knee length boots!
Also I do have some slight issues with my feet and have suffered in the past with plantar fasciitis and I had heard that these particular shoes were very good for comfort and cushioning.
As many of you know, I also travel to London a lot and that usually involves a lot of walking. Ballet Shoes may look good with my dresses, but after a day of wandering around, my feet usually are screaming, and feel like I am walking on razor blades. I had been saying for quite awhile that I would love some shoes with cushioning and comfort, but hadn’t got any further than talking about it. This seemed like an ideal opportunity.
I spent quite awhile looking through all the options, before narrowing it down to a couple of pairs of Fitflops, some Birkenstocks and a pair of Heavenly Feet. This was because I wanted to give Rachel several options, in case of stock issues etc.
Rachel very kindly offered to send me 2 pairs of shoes, so I could check them out, and keep the pair that I liked the best. So I waited for the delivery.
Less than 24hrs later, the parcel arrived on my doorstep! How’s that for service?
Inside were two gorgeous pairs of FitFlops – The Lulu Shimmersuede Slide in Nude (£60) These are a lovely shimmery nude suede two strap sandal that you slide your foot into.
These shoes have a Microwobbleboard midsole, which aids in the comfort due to the shock absorbancy and pressure diffusing capabilities.
These are billed as “Perfect to take on holiday from lounging around by the pool to long summer walks!”
The second was a beautiful pair of Cha-Cha in Bubblegum Pink (£70)
A lovely post toe shoe bedecked with pink beaded tassels, this was certainly my favourite of the two, mainly due to the hot pink colour, teamed up with a gold base with cork detailing.
I have quite a lot of pink based dresses, and during the warmer months will be putting these together with my swing dresses. A perfect combination, I think!
Again the Microwobbleboard midsole features on this shoe, offering the same level of comfort.
I had a good old perusal at them both, but my heart was already set on the Cha-Cha pair. I had been seduced by sparkly beads!
I put the shoes to the ultimate test on Monday. Working a full shift in a busy department, I knew I would be up and down a lot during the day and thought that it would be a good way of testing them.
Now, as most of you know, Post toe shoes can be a little problematic, especially after a winter spent wearing socks and boots. The gap between the big toe and second toe become soft. We haven’t had enough of the warm weather to break out the flip flops yet, and normally it takes me around 3-4 wears for my feet to get used to having a post in the middle of my toes.
With these I wore them for 9 hours, with no issues, or rubbing. I went out that evening to a sign language class, and carried on wearing them. I feel as if I am walking on air, and I also haven’t experienced as much lower back pain as I normally do. I am not sure whether this is just down to the shoes, but I haven’t done anything else different.
So far I have wore them for the last 3 days. They really are the most comfortable shoes I have ever worn!
In fact, I went straight back onto the site and purchased a pair of black patent Mary Janes! My theory being that if their flipflop style can be that comfortable at work, then little MJ’s would be equally amazing. The also have a lot of other pump style shoes, which will look great with my outfits.
I wore the patent MJ’s to work on Friday for the first time, with no wearing in. I was comfortable all day, and there was again, no rubbing or soreness. I felt supported and cushioned and really happy with my purchase.
I am due to go to London over the weekend, and there will be a LOT of walking involved. As mentioned, my feet really suffered so I will be testing these out.
Shoetique have over 30 years experience in the business, and really do have such a massive range of shoes, that it is very tricky to narrow it down to just one pair. I know I will be ordering more from them soon.
If you would like to treat yourself to a pair (or two) they are running an amazing weekend discount across their site. By using the code MAY20, you will get 20% off any purchases! What better excuse do you need to get yourself over to their page and look at all the amazing products they have available.
