Those of you who saw my previous post about marvellous mermaids (read here) will remember me looking at some beautiful accessories to go with a dress I am having made by Silly Old Sea Dog.
The lovely Clare over at Dolly Cool was so very helpful with allowing me to use her copyrighted images, and when I told her what it was that I wanted them for, she very kindly offered to send me her Mermaid necklace to review for my blog.

Now, this was one of the necklaces I had mentioned on my previous post. A very “American traditional” Style of necklace, with a central anchor and a Mermaid playing a seaharp either side.
The colours are just so very lovely on this. They are colourful in a muted vintage kind of way. The anchor is particularly cute with its pink heart centre, and the mermaids are saucy yet demure.
Clare makes all of her jewellery herself, and I was excited to receive this piece and start wearing it.
In less than 48 hours, the necklace arrived, very well packaged, with a lovely handwritten note from Claire.
Taking it out carefully (I can be a bit heavy handed) I was surprised to see just how delicate and high quality the item was. This design is hand drawn and coloured on plastic, then cut and sealed with varnish & attached to a silver plated chain. All by Clare herself!
This little beauty is available at just £13.04, and it really is very much great value for money.
Because Clare makes everything by hand, and it is not mass-produced, you won’t see these pieces around every vintage/rockabilly lovers neck. I love the fact that they are a little more exclusive, yet not out of my price range.
I have already put in an order for the cute little blue octopus earrings and necklace set. After all, he is just TOO cute to resist!
I have several plans for future purchases too – There is a cute Carousel horse Brooch and I have also just spotted another little octopus, this time a Pirate octopus in shades of black and red. I think he might need to come home to me soon too! Oh AND the matching earrings!
Clare also does custom items, and is so lovely to communicate with. Her messages are always read and responded to quickly and she was eager to answer any questions I had.
I know this won’t be the last time I am on her site, putting more things in my basket. Watch this space for future goodies!
