Last week I had the honour of getting an e-mail from the lovely Ellie from Mandy’s Heaven.
If you haven’t heard of Mandy’s Heaven before, it is a fantastic website specialising in quality clothing and accessories. Initially run out of the living room of her home, the line and interest grew enough to set up the online shop, whilst maintaining a personal and intimate touch.
Mandy’s Heaven prides itself on an amazing range for the mature lady, and for the plus size lady too! Perfect in my opinion.
Ellie very kindly offered to send me an outfit to try on and review, and to have a look through the website and see what took my fancy.
Well, the clothing on offer ranged from silks, linens and cool cottons, all with fabulous styling. Boutique style French and Italian designs, at High Street Prices! It took me ages to narrow down an outfit I would like to try, as there was just so much to choose from!
Finally, I chose a beautiful floral chiffon maxi-dress a lovely Grecian column style dress in black with stunning flowers in shades of pinks, greys, lilacs and greens. This dress comes in dual sizing so I opted for the 24/26 and eagerly told Ellie what I would like to review.
Well, imaging my surprise when less the very following morning, a beautifully wrapped packaged arrived from Mandy’s Heaven. Literally less than 24 hrs had passed and I had the item in my hands.
Lovely deep red tissue paper, with a handwritten note and a card hoping I like the items inside; fantastic customer service indeed!
Upon opening it, what a stunning item it was! The chiffon was light enough without being sheer, and the material underdress was a heavier weight, which gave the dress a lovely comfortable yet substantial and quality feel to it.
I loved the floral pattern, which to be honest is what drew me to it. Whilst not a vintage shape or style, the pattern is very retro and matches lots of my current hair accessories.
The dress has a lovely rounded back, which it then topped off with a tie across from shoulder to shoulder. This gives it a little bit of extra styling, and also stopped the shoulders sliding down on me a little, as I have quite small yet very sloping shoulders. I really liked that particular accent, and it just made it all a bit “different”
The dress has an elasticated waist for comfort, but comes with a chiffon belt in the same material that you can tighten it up with, or wear it loose as an accent. Perfect for Summer.
I chose this particular item over all the other lovely garments, as even though it isn’t the style I currently spend majority of my time in, sometimes I have to be practical!
Practical? You say? Me, being Practical? Surely that is unheard of!
Well, I am hopefully going away on a hot summery beach holiday in the beginning of September, and petticoats and corsets just really don’t work in that heat and environment.
This dress is so very versatile! I could happily throw it on over my swimsuit for a trip to the beach or pool. Or It would be lovely worn for a casual lunch, but equally it is very easy to dress up with some classy jewellery and have a lovely evening out.
I wore the dress for the day last Sunday and was so pleasantly surprised at how comfortable and easy it felt. I was left feeling very cool and fresh, whilst still feeling “dressed up”
With the sun shining, the garden was a perfect place to take some summery photographs. I teamed the dress up with my fitflop sandals and a pink hair rose. Simple yet very effective.
I cannot recommend this dress enough, it really is lovely and at the moment is in the sale! Reduced from £38 to £25. What an absolute bargain!
