Now as regular readers of my blog know, I have been talking about a Mermaid dress that I had ordered from Silly Old Sea Dog.
I saw it at LondonEdge and fell in love. Speaking with the lovely Alison, she explained that she was just about to start working with a new factory but could order a dress to be made for me.
Well, I couldn’t refuse that offer!
She explained that it would take several weeks to get things up and running. But I was in no hurry for it, so I put in an order for a dress and matching headscarf.
Whilst visiting Alison at a recent pop-up event, I purchased a Mermaid hair bow so I could mix and match, and waited for the dress to arrive.
And arrive it did! The day before my birthday – what a great present!
I hastily ripped into the package and immediately smiled as I saw the pattern emerge. Colourful cartoon mermaids, Little pink octopus, blue fish and seahorse abound!
The dress itself is a lovely sleeveless, full skirted vintage style dress with a rear zip. There is a banded section around the waist that means it gives me a great shape, as there is fullness in the top section, and then lots of material in the skirt.
The quality of the dress is simply amazing. The new manufacturers certainly have pulled out all the stops, and the end result is just beautiful.
I wore the dress for the first time when taking Little Chick down to University to move into her new flat. Teaming it up with the matching headscarf, my lovely Dolly Cool Octopus earrings and necklace, and this wonderful Little Mermaid bag that was sent as a present to me by the wonderful and very beautiful Caroline Curvy Wordy.
I literally was a walking talking sea creature advertisement. And I felt absolutely amazing in it all!
Wearing the dress to travel was an ideal option, as because it is loose and made of cotton, and the day was very hot, I was left comfortable yet looking stylish.
It didn’t crease or crumple and was left looking smart and presentable even after a nearly 6 hour round trip drive.
This dress is literally so beautiful, and even though I am 42, there is no reason I can’t rock a dress covered in cartoon mermaids.
And I fully intend to wear this lots. It makes me smile as soon as I see it, so hopefully it will have the same effect on others!
Do you own any Silly Old Sea Dog dresses? I’d love to see what prints you own!
Till next time,
Tx
