Misfit really fits the bill

Just before Christmas I was contacted by a small up and coming company, Misfit Cosmetics to ask if I would like to test out the first few items in their new range.

Being a bit of a fan of new lines, I obviously said yes please, and they sent me out their range

The Slumber Natural Sleep Oil, The Shine Teeth Whitening Powder and The Blackhead Extraction Paste are the first three lines that they have on offer.

Now at the moment, I am suffering with sleep issues. This is mainly due to a long term neck and shoulder problem that causes me extreme pain. I am on medication, and I struggle to get to sleep because of the pain.

The Slumber Natural sleep oil is a lavender based oil that can be used in a few ways, namely sprinkled on your pillow, put into a oil burner or dripped under running bath water.

Lavender has long been known to aid relaxation and sleep, and so with that I shook it all over my pillow. It couldn’t hurt and it might just help!

Slumber Sleep Aid

I have now done this for the past three nights. The scent is not too heavy, and has an underlying citrus scent. Lavender can be a bit overpowering but this is light and very pleasant. It is not greasy on the pillow at all and lasts all night long.

I have to say that I have definitely slept better over the past few nights. Whether this is due to the oil, sheer exhaustion or a combination I am not sure. I do know that I have woken up refreshed and have not woken up periodically through the night, as is common. So I will be continuing using it as it does seem likely that it has helped with my relaxation and sleep pattern.

Moving on to the Shine Teeth Whitening Powder, this was the one product I was a little frightened to use. Why? Well it is a large tub of black powder. Messy Dusty black powder that I was supposed to brush onto my teeth.

Shine Teeth Whitening with Activated Carbon

Now, Cleaning your teeth with charcoal is not a new thing. The Ancient Romans used it as a way of cleaning their teeth, but it did fall out of popularity. Until recently.

There has been a lot of press, especially from bloggers and vloggers about using activated charcoal on your teeth as a way to remove everyday stains like coffee, wine and tea.

I have never thought about using Charcoal before, but in for a penny, in for a pound. I dipped my toothbrush in and brushed away.

It is not the easiest thing I have ever done. It can get a little messy and I would recommend using a towel to cover your clothing as it can get everywhere. However, it wasn’t unpleasant, you just need to be a little careful.

I have now used the powder for over a week. Whilst I think there is a little improvement in the colour of my teeth, I genuinely think I need to give it a bit longer before I make my mind up.

The last product I was sent was the Blackhead Extraction Paste, which is a face mask that comes ready prepared in a tube.

Basically you spread the paste over your face, making sure not to get it on your eyes, lips or eyebrows. Once on, leave for up to 25 minutes and when it is dry you get to peel away.

Blackhead Extraction Paste

As you peel the mask off, it pulls out all the blackheads, impurities, excess dirt and even dead skin. The result is that your skin feels tighter, brighter and definitely smoother.

I have to say, being a 42 year old woman I was a little concerned that this product wasn’t something I needed to use. I can’t remember the last time I had a blackhead, but it does give you a deep cleanse and as my skin has been suffering recently, I thought I would give it a go.

Squeezing the paste into my hand, I immediately failed by smearing it over my face, getting it all in my eyebrows. Now as I knew I would have to pull the mask off, I grabbed a cotton pad and wiped the eyebrows clean as I didn’t want to give myself a home wax by mistake!

I put the black paste all over the rest of my face. It was very sticky but spread over the surface of my face well.

Enough to frighten anyone away!

I sat back to watch a bit of television whilst I waited for my time to be up. I could feel the mask drying on my skin, but it wasn’t unpleasant. At the end of the time, the mask was fully dried and felt quite tight.

Now was time to start peeling. Being a bit strange, I found this very satisfying! It didn’t come off in one fell swoop so I sat pulling it off section by section. It was very gratifying to see all the dirt and pollution coming off with the black mask!

Peeling Away

I have to say this has been my favourite product. My skin was left smooth and much brighter. It also felt quite soft and smooth, which is always a bonus.

The After Picture!

I put my normal moisturiser on to my skin, and it felt like it really soaked into the skin, which is just what I need at the moment.

I will be incorporating this mask into my weekly routine as I genuinely felt that it helped my skin no end.

I can’t wait to see what other products Misfit Cosmetics bring out, as I am already quite a fan!

Till next time,
Tx
