When I entered the Yours Clothing “Be the Blogger” competition I never for one second imagined I would get through to the final shortlist. After all, I am a small fish in a huge amazing lake full of the creme de la creme of  plus size bloggers. But I am swimming hard, dedicated to my writing and the plus size community.

So when I found out I had made the final shortlist, I was blown away! Now the last part of the competition was to write a final blog and either send it to Yours Clothing direct, or post it on my blog.

I decided that I would send the blog directly to Yours, and then post my entry once entry was closed.

What actually happened was I wrote TWO blog posts and sent them off to Yours Clothing.

Why did I do that? Well for a few reasons. The main one being that they didn’t say you couldn’t!

So here is what I wrote…. Part one.

Why did I enter the Yours Clothing “Be The Blogger|” competition?

Well I think Yours Clothing has that same dedication to the Plus Size Community as I do. Too often companies are quick to take the plus size pound whilst offering poorly made, overpriced and limited sized clothing. They tout their ranges as plus sized, but more often than not stop at a size 22. Tent like garments designed to hide the abundance of flesh, rather than celebrate it.

That is not how Yours Clothing works. From the first time I set foot in my local branch (Kettering, sadly no longer there) I was amazed at the riotous colours and designs. No longer hiding in big baggy black garments. I could wear exactly what my regular sized friends wore. The latest look, the high fashion trends AND not be ripped off in the process.

For those of you who have never heard or seen a Yours Clothing store, they brought to the High Street just what every plus sized girl had been begging and dreaming of. And they just kept on giving.

Never before could I walk out of a store with bags containing jewel like colours, sexy lingerie including corsets and babydolls, comfy pyjamas and even better, wide fit shoes and boots! Actual honest to goodness over the knee boots!

These boots are made for walking!

Since that first trip Yours Clothing has gone from strength to strength. Their range has become second to none, and their ethos of body positivity and all inclusiveness just makes my heart sing.

How many other companies do you know who would promote a competition for all their customers to become the “Face of Yours”? This was something that was truly groundbreaking. Totally unheard of.

The Face of Yours

Yours Clothing are known for being different. Doing what no-one else does. And this is where I come in.

I am different. I am a short 42 year old mother. I am like so many other women out there. Under represented and yet wanting more.

Working as a blogger for Yours Clothing would reach that market that quite often has a disposable income. That wants to look funky and fresh and wants to see someone just like them promoting it.

What I want most is to reach out to those women who are unsure about themselves and their style. The ladies who perhaps have little body positivity, feeling old and over the hill. The ones who are ready to dip their toes into the world of fashion but don’t know where to start. I want them to see that you are never too old to dress in a way that makes you happy and gives you confidence.

Funky yet fabulous

Women who need someone to represent them and to identify with.

Yours Clothing has the platform to make this happen. I have the passion for writing, the drive and the positivity. All I need is the chance!
