Last week I had a lovely email from Rosie at Yours Clothing letting me know they had just launched a new range of clothing from the wonderful Lady Voluptuous.
Knowing that the style was right up my street, she kindly offered to send me one of the new dresses to review.
Going onto the Yours Website I was very happy to see a range of eight dresses. From the Lyra to the Roxy to the Marchella and more, all in wonderful prints.
I debated between two specific dresses, the Pink Butterfly print Roxy dress and the Blue Tropical Floral and Bird print dress.
I loved both of them for different reasons. The pink for its fabulous shawl collar and the blue for the little cap sleeves. I knew I had to make a decision, so I worked out what I had more of already, blue or pink.
Emailing Rosie back I asked for the Pink Roxy in a size 26/28. This new range currently goes up to a 30-32 which is amazing
I based this size on my previous Lady Voluptuous dresses (I have six others) and I know that although I can sometimes fit in a size 24, because Lady V does dual sizing, the next size down is a 22-24.
This sizing gives a bust measurement of between 47-49 inches. Sadly at nearly a 51, it means I do have to go up in size. However, this does not mean the dress is too big anywhere else. In fact, it hugs in all the right places, and gives a fullness to the skirt.
The dress arrived two days later and I eagerly opened it up.
The print and quality are as always, wonderful! So bright and colourful with perfect flowers printed everywhere.
I was on my way to London so I was unable to try it on at that point, but on my return it was the first thing I did.
I was not disappointed. The shawl collar is not too big, so sits perfectly, and gives a different look to the rest of the Lady V dresses. The short sleeves have a lovely pointed turned back cuff, and there is a side zip to help get into the dress if needed.
The only issue I had with the dress, is not the dress or the designers fault. Having a huge chest means I have huge bras. I only own full coverage, which means sometimes the lace or material panels show.
As this is a lovely V neck, it meant that a bit of my bra was on show. This was easily solved with a small vintage diamante brooch.
I wore the dress out to take Little Chick back to Uni, which is a five hour round trip. We also stopped for lunch and I have to say it was comfortable throughout and it didn’t look like I had slept in it for a week! There was minimal creasing, and it was cool and felt really good to wear.
I can heartily recommend the new range that Yours Clothing are offering. I am hoping that over time they will get even more lines in, as they really are fabulous dresses.
The Roxy dress is currently £50 with Yours Clothing and it is a bargain at that price. The material if of a great quality, and the print and design are all well thought out and certainly flatter us vintage loving larger ladies.
Why not go and have a look at the new offerings and see if something takes your eye!
