I was very recently contacted by the lovely Rachael at UK Swimwear to ask if I would be interested in trying out one of their swimming costumes.
Now, I have my lovely Ewa Michalak bikini that is great for sunbathing, going to the spa and splashing around in the pool or hot tub, however I have never tried it out for a more strenuous session, such as lane swimming or aquarobics.
So of course I jumped at the chance of trying something out and had a good look at the range that was on offer.
UK Swimwear is a great website. The filter options are comprehensive and you can choose size, style, price bracket, brands, cup size and more!
They offer items in sizes 8 to 26, with the most availability in sizes ranging from 12 – 18 with nearly 100 products on offer.
I of course needed the larger sizes which I still had a good selection to choose from.
UK Swimwear are not just about the swimwear though. They also have a great range of kaftans and beach cover-ups too.
Now I knew that due to my “abnormally” large breast size I would struggle with getting a swimming costume with large enough cups. Before Ewa Michalak sent me the bikini of dreams, I had never been able to get a costume that fit me properly.
Most brands do them in the regular sizes, yet forget that plus size people can also need a larger bust section. Too often there is padding that is the diameter of a jaffa cake, or an elasticated material “shelf” that barely goes under my nipples and just simply doesn’t fit.
I always have to try and cut the padding out as it looks absolutely ridiculous. So I was eager to see what was on offer.
Thankfully I stumbled across a gorgeous ruched blue Elomi costume almost immediately.
Elomi is one bra manufacturer that does go up to the larger ranges, and whilst not perfect, I have worn one or two of them in the past and know them to be a great quality brand.
I duly emailed Rachael back and requested that particular costume.
A few days later, the parcel arrived on my doorstep. When I opened it, the cobalt blue colour just jumped out at me.
Now, my dilemma. Whilst the costume fitted great, it was a little problematic in getting some great photographs in it. After all, it was now the beginning of October and the weather was not being particularly kind.
If I had gone and lay down on a blanket in the garden then I might have suffered hypothermia, or with all the rain we have had, gone a little rusty!
I emailed Rachael again and expressed the difficulty in getting some great shots, however mentioned that I was due to go on my annual holibobs to Centreparcs in a few weeks, and if she would prefer to wait, I could get some shots in the beautiful swimming oasis.
Thankfully Rachael agreed that this was a great idea, and so I packed my lovely little costume away ready for my short break in Nottingham.
The Pool area is an amazing location and so I pulled on the beautiful Elomi Swimsuit. It fitted exceptionally well, supporting me adequately and the ruching did a great job of draping the tummy area giving a little bit of style.
On the Wednesday night we booked a private cabana which was amazing. Deep lounging chairs, towels, complimentary drinks, heated floor, safe, flatscreen tv and magazines. Perfect! We got in there and was about to take the photographs when the battery went on my posh camera. D’oh.
Not a problem though, we decided to do it in two sessions instead.
I am happy to report that I went down lazy rivers, large slides into deep pools and more. The costume held me in and up (most important) and was really comfortable to wear.
But what about the strenuous stuff? Well I tested it out with a vigorous swim, again with no problems.
I was thinking about doing an aquarobics session, but due to a slight accident the night before, I sadly had to change my plans.
Whilst trying to dismount my bike, the heel of my boot got stuck on the crossbar. I fell into a wood and metal bike rack outside our villa, and then to add insult to injury the bike fell on top of me.
I was left with over 15 bruises on my left leg, with the worst being at the top of my thigh where the bike had landed. However, my right thigh came off worst where I fell into the bike rack. I genuinely looked like I had gone 10 rounds with Mike Tyson.
However, it didn’t stop me from frolicking around in the pool. I just had to try and hide the worst of the bruises!
To recap though……
I genuinely cannot recommend this costume enough. The purchase price of £65.95 is in my opinion, worth every penny. Whilst it may be more than you might consider normally paying, the support and comfort really is outstanding and I know with the right wash and care, this costume will last many years.
I highly recommend UKSwimwear especially for us larger ladies. The range is exceptional and they do have something for every budget.
If you are looking for something a little special and unusual then UKSwimwear will surely have something for every taste. I fell in love with so many of the costumes and couldn’t wait for mine to arrive.
One of the things I thought UKSwimwear also did really well was their comprehensive selection of Mastectomy wear with a range of over 45 products including bikinis, sundresses and swimsuits. Something I had not seen much on other sites.
Oh and even better next week is Black Friday. I am happy to share with you that Rachael has told me that they will be offering 15% off on Black Friday and 10% off on Cyber Monday so why don’t you go and grab yourself a bargain or two?
So all in all, I was extremely happy with the Elomi Swimsuit. It looked great, performed great and was a joy to wear. If fact, I can’t wait to see what Elomi bring out for next year now….
Anyone fancy booking a beach holiday?
Till next time
