Last week I found myself with an invite to the launch of the latest Elomi Collection held in London on a chilly Friday Night thanks to the amazing Sam over a www.fattyboomtatty.co.uk

As I don’t get to go to many of these events due to work commitments, I jumped at the chance to see a few plus size pals whilst socialising and having a look at some pretty underwear.

First Class Lady

Hopping on a train at lunchtime (first class of course) I treated myself to a spot of lunch and a wander down Oxford Street before it was time to head to the IceTank, just off Shaftesbury Avenue.

The event was from 6pm until 10pm (ish) and it was amazing to see so many ladies I know arriving. I really excited to have a good catch up!

Entering the beautiful white work space, it was full of multi coloured bras, swimwear, matching underwear sets and more. Beautiful leggy models, who were curvy and fuller figured milled around the room showing off the different designs, changing every now and then to showcase something new.

Espresso Martini’s and Aperol Spritzers were the drinks of the evening and boy did they flow freely!

White shirted servers walked amongst the guests offering pretty, delicate little canapes. It truly was a classy affair.

Chatting away to several of the Elomi ladies, I was excited to learn of the new ranges and whilst they do not cater to a size as large as mine, I know many of my readers love their lingerie and wanted to showcase just what was on offer.

The venue had a downstairs section which was even more exciting, if possible.

Fitting rooms were available so that everyone could get their sizes checked and a matching underwear set gifted to them, as well as two lovely ladies from Benefit who were there for mini pampering sessions (eyebrow waxing and tinting) as well as a mini make-up session.

I queued up for my make-up before going over to be measured up.

Being Beautified by Benefit

Now, I know that Elomi doesn’t do a size that fits me specifically. However, I have had several of their largest size bras in the past to wear as I lounge around the house in my pyjamas. Whilst these are not supportive enough to use for daily wear, they help with my back as chilling out of an evening with no bra on really does cause me many problems.

The wonderful lady who was doing the fitting took one look and said ‘well, I know we aren’t going to be able to fit you perfectly!’

I agreed with her, but explained that I do occasionally wear their range under my jammies for a little bit of comfort/support.

Eventually she came back with a beautiful bra, the Morgan

She was quite surprised by my small back and thought I would need a 36 and knew that the largest cup size was a K. To be fair, it wasn’t a terrible fit, but not one I could wear as a daily bra.

In the ladies own words ‘you couldn’t do a step class in it, but for wearing in the bedroom, for seduction, it would be perfect’

Such Great designs

I went back to the main floor and ambled amongst the different designs on show. Bright colours, florals, crochet and more. Elomi really had gone out of it’s way to bring something new to the table.

Several cocktails later and I found myself sitting with not only several friends, but several amazing bloggers/influencers. People I admire and have looked up to whilst going through my journey; Danie Vanier, Chloe in Curve, Olivia Campbell and more.

In fact, whilst talking to Olivia Campbell, I compared her to my dog. Epic Foot in mouth moment!!!

Aperol Time!

Thankfully she took it all in good jest, when I explained that Theodore had been out in the misty wet morning grass and his fur went curly and he looked like he had a huge afro.

Of course we then got onto the topic of dogs and it turned out Olivia was a huge Chow Chow fan; I KNEW there was a reason I liked that lady!!!

We ended up talking for ages and I just couldn’t believe just how welcome and included everyone of these amazing plus size icons made me feel!

Girl Squad

Eventually, sitting surrounded by cocktails, several of the ladies went outside for some air/cigarettes and I stayed watching the drinks etc

Whilst checking my phone I felt a tap on my shoulder.

Espresso Martini

I turned around to find a beautiful blonde lady stood in front of me. I got up from my seat and she point blank said ‘I had to come over and tell you that you have amazing breasts’

Well, I was a little gobsmacked and started to thank her. She held her hand out and said ‘I am Hayley’

I responded with ‘I am Tanya’

And then the penny dropped.

I was still holding her hand as I said ‘You are Hayley Hassel…’

‘Yes, Hayley Hasselhoff’ she replied

It was pretty warm in there….

Well of course I went into total fangirl mode. I even told her I was!

I thanked her profusely for coming and talking to me, and she replied that it was important to tell people if you liked something/saw something about them.

I was still on cloud nine as she told me to have a great rest of the night and it all felt like an amazing dream.

I mean, it is not everyday that you get a stunning plus size icon come and tell you they think your boobs are fab! Well, not in my world anyway.

To be honest, the whole evening was pretty amazing, and I had met several of my plus size icons.

Sadly the night was drawing to a close and everyone grabbed their belongings and started to leave.

Quite a few of the ladies wanted to head to Shake Shack to get food/milkshakes. I was invited along too, however I had a train to head back for, so I walked as far as the shack with them, then grabbed a tube a Leicester Square to take me back to St Pancras.

On the train home… Tired and a little tipsy

To say it was a successful night is a total understatement, both for Elomi and for me personally.

I will treasure meeting Olivia Campbell and Hayley Hasselhoff. My only regret is I didn’t get any photographs!

Rookie Mistake…. but one that will not happen again if I ever am lucky enough to be in the same space as them again.
