So… last weekend Little Chick decided to come home for Easter.
Was it the lure of the chocolate eggs she would be sure to find?
Hell no. It was the lure of the super duper washing machine and tumble dryer as she is off to Croatia next week and had several loads she wanted doing. Oh and Easter cash to take away on her trip.
This was great though as we had a road trip on Good Friday down to her University, Grandyma, I and Baby Bear. And Baby Bear even drove!
This meant she needed to get back to University on Easter Monday.
Well that was too good an opportunity to miss and we all piled back into the car, including Theodore the Chow Chow.
The journey takes roughly 2 and a half hours, and we left with plenty of time to spare. Why, you may ask?
Well, I had pre-booked a table at the amazing Bishop on the Bridge Pub in Winchester for Lunch.
A Dog Friendly eaterie, The Bishop boasts a great menu, fantastic roast dinner, roaring log fires and a huge outdoor patio area. And it is great value for money too.
We had visited two or three times before and had really loved it. The staff are exemplary and go out of their way to serve. Friendly and chatty, we have always felt so welcome in the establishment.
The fact it is a Fullers brand pub is great. Their Steak Pie is made with their own Fullers Pride beer and it is out of this world.
I was eager to get in there and choose what to have.
Theodore is also a particular fan and has had the odd piece of lamb roast and maybe a roast potato with a bit of gravy so he gets quite excited when he gets in there.
I decided on Steak and London Pride pie, as did Little Chick, Grandyma had the Haddock fishcake with Hollandaise and a hens egg and the hubby had a huge boar and apple burger with cheese, bacon and Onions. Delicious!
We took Theodore a portion of his favourite; Lily’s Kitchen Sunday Dinner which he just loves!
It was, as always fabulous fare. Tasty and fresh, I couldn’t fault a single thing and neither could anyone else.
The whole meal for four people with alcoholic drinks came to £70 and to be honest this is cheap given the quality of the food you get.
If you happen to be in Winchester, you could do no better than popping into The Bishop for either food or a drink.
You will certainly get a warm welcome!
Have you ever tried a Fullers Pub?
Till next time,
Txx
