Many of my regular readers know that I recently took part in a photoshoot at the beautiful Sugnall Hall with the wonderful Velvet D’Amour, photographer extraordinaire!
The purpose of the shoot was to get some shots that could be potentially used in an article for Volup2 Magazine.
I arrived at the Hall after a two hour drive and was immediately welcomed into the huge house. Rachel was on hand to provide hair and makeup and I had to email her prior to arrival telling her what kind of things I would like.
Well, to be honest I was up for anything! Apart from futuristic, robotic style I was willing to try anything.
The Brief I gave her was to make me not look like my usual 43 year old mum of two look. To make me look like a Goddess that was not so secret.
She absolutely filled this brief when she gave me a poodle updo with green eye shadow, defined cheeks and a pink lip. I adored everything she had done and couldn’t wait to start shooting.
Velvet told me she wanted to shoot me in the parlour which featured stork wallpaper, Chinese lanterns and embellished furniture.
Well, of course I was happy with that especially as it had a totally vintage vibe.
Velvet told me she shot really quickly and so I needed to have my outfits ready to go. There was an hour slot and I had 6 changes available to me.
I honestly didn’t think we would get through them all in that time, but Velvet directed the shoot perfectly. Told me what to do, where to stand and what to wear.
I finished the shoot and left Sugnall Hall with a huge grin on my face. I really was pleased with the shoot, without seeing any of the results.
Around a week later Velvet sent me the contact sheets. There were 125 photos on the sheets and I needed to choose my 10 favourites.
What a hard job!!
I managed to whittle it down to 43.
Still way off the target I needed. Time to get ruthless.
I sat for hours deliberating the difference between the shots, what worked, what didn’t and what I absolutely loved.
Eventually I got it down to 10.
With a proviso of another 16 that I loved.
I sent those through to Velvet and awaited the final edits.
Well, they just totally blew me away.
Seeing them up close meant I could see every little details. Every line, bump. crease and lump.
Velvet doesn’t believe in photoshopping your images, so it is just as nature intended.
And I loved EVERY SINGLE ONE.
Of Course my first instinct was to share all of them at once. This means though that I have nothing to share over the next few weeks.
So I made the decision to promote 2 a week for the next 5/6 weeks
The first one I decided to share was one of my absolute favourites.
I wore the Pin Up Girl Monica dress in Purple and Velvet was quick to remember there was a Catherine D’lish robe available to use courtesy of Fuller Figure Fuller Bust.
I couldn’t believe when I tried it on that it was the perfect colour match! The only downside is that you can’t see the matching 5″ heels that I was wearing at the time.
However I feel fierce and powerful in this shot. Almost stern in style.
I posted this picture in the Pin Up Girl Clothing Lounge on Facebook as it is one of their dresses.
The response has been overwhelming with over 600 likes and 156 comments.
My absolute favourite comment of them all comes from a Karlie Barlow.
‘My 3 year old saw your photo and said ‘That Lady must be a Queen’
Well If that isn’t the best compliment ever, I don’t know what is!
Watch this space for more Velvet D’Amour photo’s as I release them… After all I don’t want to overwhelm you all at once!
Till next time,
Txxx
