Several months ago I was really fortunate to review a couple of pairs of glasses for the wonderful Retropeepers ladies. I chose a gorgeous green pair, the Betty in Graduated Green   .

I was then offered another pair ready for Christmas, the Zsa Zsa in red (no longer available in red, but other colours available)

I have to say (and mentioned it on the blog posts you can find here and here) that Retropeepers rekindled my love of glasses, especially vintage style ones.

I literally have worn my Betties almost solidly since I received them.  There have been maybe a handful of days since last October when I got them, that I have worn my contacts. In fact, I now feel odd when I don’t have the reassuring feel of my glasses on the bridge of my nose.

So, fast forward several months and I was given a sneak peek of another new arrival; The Frida. Exclusive to Retropeepers, these glasses have been based on a real pair of sunglasses owned by the world renowned artist, Frida Kahlo there are a choice of two pairs.

Created to coincide with a wonderful new exhibition at the V&A Museum entitled ‘Frida Kahlo, Making her self up‘

The exhibition includes such treasures as Frida’s wardrobe and accessories. It even includes the original pair of Matte Gold Sunglasses that these are modelled after (normally found on display in the Frida Kahlo Museum, Mexico)

Now as someone who totally adores Frida’s style, attitude and Feminist thoughts, I was so excited to hear all about this exhibition.

The fact that it goes on from 16th June until and goes on until 4th November means I will DEFINITELY get there at some point.

The exhibition includes such amazing items as her personal cosmetics, clothing and even a prosthetic leg complete with a beautifully detailed boot.

It is just too wonderful to miss!

Exactly like the Frida glasses.

The fact they are limited edition and exclusive to Retropeepers is a great thing. It means you won’t see a pair on every vintage loving lady as they are in short supply.

The price tag of £150 is a great price for a little piece of history. The glasses come with a choice of cases that is inspired by Frida’s work, and includes a glasses cloth again embossed with Frida’s visage. The cases are either The Fuschia or The Marigold.

I have to say, that whilst I love BOTH pairs of glasses and the golden pair is almost a dead ringer for Frida’s actual glasses, I personally love the tortoiseshell one.

They have a perfect frame shape and would suit pretty much every face.

This design is so different to most things out there on the market that I can imagine them flying off the Retropeepers shelf.

I just have to hope I can save up my pennies before they run out of the Tortoiseshell ones!!!!
