A few months back I was invited to a launch party for the new Elomi range of lingerie and swimwear in London. If you missed it, you can catch it here
I had a whale of a time and was really chuffed when Em from Elomi emailed me to invite me to a second event. Sadly I had a sign language exam that day and was unable to attend. I apologised well in advance and asked them to keep me in mind for any future events, if they could.
Em assured me that she would do so and then went on to kindly offer some items from the new collections to try. Now, this is where it becomes a bit tricky as both of us know that their range doesn’t go up quite as large as I need. However in the past they have kindly gifted me with a couple of sets which I will explain more about here.
Being so large, it has been a nightmare to get a bra that works for me. I was really lucky to meet Sue from Optifit who have a different design of bra which goes against the norm. And I have to say it really works.
Since I have been wearing the Optifit bras, my lower back problem is pretty much non-existent and my chronic shoulder problem, whilst not gone completely has calmed down an awful lot.
I owe a lot to Sue for this miracle as it really has changed my working, daily life.
So, why would I be wearing a bra that doesn’t fit me as well?
There are two reasons for this.
Firstly and the main reason is that I, like a lot of bra wearers pull the bra off the second I get home. If I have a day off, that bra is going nowhere near me. This however has a negative effect.
Of course, with no support the breasts hang and get saggier. At 44 I couldn’t really give a damn about that, however by the end of the day I will have back ache and neck ache. If I an doing chores I have to stop every five minutes or so to stop my back aching.
In the mega hot weather we have been having, unsupported breasts will get very hot and sweaty. This can cause infection and skin problems.
If I bend over at the waist to put something in a drawer or the oven, the weight of my hanging breasts (18lbs) feels like they are pulling muscle away from my rib cage. It is excruciating.
This I solve by wearing a comfortable bra like the Elomi Cate in royal blue. I KNOW this bra is not one that will work for me during my daily busy working life. The cups just aren’t full enough for my size.
However, when I am sat on the sofa reading, or making dinner, or even sitting here now blogging to you, this bra works beautifully. It stops a lot of my pain, gives me some support and helps my posture.
It is better to be wearing a bra than not at all, however I don’t want to feel properly trussed up in my best bra when I am lounging around.
The fact that this bra comes with matching underwear is a total bonus. The full Cate Brief has lovely lace inserts and the colour just pops. It has a wonderful feminine vibe to it and makes me feel stunning in it.
Which leads me on to the second reason I wear this.
Well, you need something pretty to wear in the bedroom don’t you?
Till next time,
