If you have been following my adventures you will know that I had a trip to Stuttgart on the cards, staying with the lovely Rhina and her husband Holger, experiencing the Cannstatter Wasen and the Cannstatter Volksfest, which basically are Harvest festivals that involve a lot of drinking, dancing and partying.
I had a flight that was arriving at 1130 on a Thursday and Rhina would be meeting me and showing me around. However, around 3 weeks before the trip, Rhina let me know she had arranged a photo shoot with the amazing Cina Uicker.
Planning this as a welcome to Stuttgart and a memory to cherish, Rhina had asked for a friends photo shoot and had been told that the Thursday was the day that Cina would be shooting inside the festival Cannstatter area, that was not yet open to the public. It would be available all day for the shoot and there would be very few people about.
Sounded like a perfect opportunity!
Well, you know me. I am not a novice at these kind of things so I was up for it from the get go. Then Cina contacted me online and said she had a great idea but she was unsure if I would go for it and be willing.
Of course, this piqued my interest and asked her what it was that she wanted.
Now, I was just about to leave my home to head to the hotel at Heathrow. Cina called me and said she had this vision me wearing JUST my underwear in the fairground and would I be up for the experience.
Well I have modelled in my bra and pants before, and cat-walked with a man in handcuffs and me in lace, so I wasn’t phased by her request at all.
She asked me to bring corsets, knickers, stockings and a couple of dresses that she loved me in. I stuffed them all in my case with about 10 minutes to spare before I left for the overnight hotel at Heathrow.
Fast forward a little bit and I was landing at Stuttgart around 1130am. Rhina arrived shortly after and we got onto the u-bahn to take us to the festival area.
I had carried a present all the way from my home to Germany in my hand. A bespoke hat by Jane Fairhead. Rhina had admired mine and so I had one made as a thank you for her gracious invitation and I gave it to her as we waited for our train. She was so surprised and absolutely loved it. Mission completed!
Lugging my huge heavy case I was surprised to see how hot it was. Rhina had said it was going to be cold so I had thick dresses, coats, scarves, hats and gloves. But what I really needed was sundresses as it was pretty tropical!
We arrived at the fairground and Rhina called Cina to see where she was. We eventually found her and she introduced us to the make up artist for the shoot, Danijela who was a stunning lady with the most amazing long blonde hair.
She sat us down and started working her magic.
By the time she was finished, my make up was flawless and she had re-styled my vintage wig.
We watched as Cina shot the most beautiful lady in a full showgirl costume. White feathers, wings, fans and sparkles. She was just out of this world.
She changed into a feathery outfit of blue, yellow and red and looking positively tropical.
Then it was my turn.
Now, whilst Cina had said the fairground wasn’t open yet and there would be no-one there, this didn’t mean that the stall holders and fairground workers wouldn’t be around.
I had pulled a caftan over my corset, knickers and fishnets, but eventually I would need to take that off. Cina positioned me by a fairground ride, told me what she wanted and then it was time to get my kit off.
Standing in my corset, knickers and fishnets my confidence started to waver. I was getting cat-calls and comments from the stallholders and fairground staff and being that I couldn’t understand them I was not sure if it was a compliment or an insult. I posed and preened to Cina’s instructions until she said that she had the photo she wanted.
Throwing my caftan back on, we walked back to the area we had commandeered for the shoot and I put on a silver lurex wiggle dress that Cina had requested.
Posing on different fairground rides, it was a surreal experience; the bright colours made the pictures pop and we had our pick of what we wanted to shoot on.
Rhina was wearing a beautiful polka dot dress and Cina took her off to do a few shots whilst I got changed again, This time I put on a red prom dress from Pin Up Girl Clothing and I met Cina and Rhina to take yet more shots.
We started off larking about and Cina directed us as she wished. We literally were laughing our heads of and having an amazing time. Eventually it was time to call it a day as Cina had some other ladies to shoot, including aerial ring work and pole shots.
Somehow I managed to get myself roped in to spinning an aerial hoop as the performer hung upside down from it. Super special and it made for amazing photographs, however it was a little surreal!
After over 5 hours, we packed up our belongings, said goodbye to the other models who were still shooting and made our way to Rhina’s home. Tired, buzzing and excited to see the end result.
Cina was amazing. She managed to get some wonderful shots for the collection; burlesque, pole dancing, en-pointe, carnival and fun shots that summed up the meaning of Cannstatter Wasen. I am so honoured and happy to share the following shots with you. All captured by Cina Uicker, a true genius behind the camera.
So where do I fit into this collection? Well here you go……
Although it was the first day of my adventure it was an amazing, special one and I honestly didn’t know how Rhina would be able to top the experience.
Watch this space to see how she did this!
Till next time,
