Many of you will remember a post or two I did last year in collaboration with a great spectacle company, Retropeepers. I tried out their Betty glasses in graduated green firstly.
Then I was sent the sparkling red glitter Zsa Zsa glasses which I absolutely adored.
I loved the fact that the glasses were a bargain price to start with, and even when having my prescription put in, the were miles cheaper (and much more my style than Specsavers etc.)
I could literally buy 4 or 5 different pairs for the price of one in the high street opticians.
So I was over the moon when Lauretta and Caroline contacted me regarding some new lines including the Frida Kahlo sunglasses.
As much as I loved them, sadly they were a little out of my budget; Little Chick had just gone back to University after completing her degree but wanted to do her masters in Forensic Psychology.
This meant treats such as the beautiful Kahlo’s needed to be curtailed.
However, I recognised the fact that I really needed a new pair of glasses.
I had worn the hell out of the Betty’s and they had travelled around Europe with me on several adventures. I had been to my opticians and had a recent eye review and there was literally no change whatsoever. However that didn’t stop me wanting some new specs.
My first choice?
I absolutely fell in love with these beauties. They are literally straight out of the era and I lusted over them greatly. They come in three colours for plain glasses and two colours in sunglasses.
Whilst I love all three, the aqua is my favourite, and at only £25 before lenses, they are an absolute bargain.
My second choice (again) is the Peggy.
This set of glasses was one that I was hard pushed to decline when I was offered the first pair. I went with the Betty but it took me a long time to choose.
The reason I love the Peggy is for the choice of colours that it comes in; 15 in the glasses and 17 in the sunglasses. Now, you have to admit that is a pretty impressive choice!
My Absolute favourites are the emerald green Peggy. The colour is so bright and is only just ahead of the second choice, the red diamond pair.
Both are priced at £25 before lenses so are infinitely affordable.
Don’t get me wrong. If I had unlimited funds I would get the green, red, purple. lace, amethyst, blue, brown and tortoiseshell. That is just how much I love them.
Equally I would probably do the same for Betty!
However, I have noticed several original vintage pieces they are now stocking that I think are divine.
The Gianfranco Ferre Miao at £125.
The Max Mara Kitten at £135.
The Valentino Literati at £135.
I would have a different pair for each day of the week.
Now, where is my opticians prescription for those Marilyns……
Ooooooh I have just spotted the Jessica Flamingo glasses too. This could become an addiction.
