After the last LondonEdge (Autumn/Winter) back in September 2018 I was keen and eager to see what Unique Vintage planned on offering.
Up to that point, the largest size they offered was a 3XL which was nowhere near big enough for me.
We had a great chat with the ladies on the stand and the told us that they were going to expand some of the range right up to a 5XL which translates to a UK 26.
Exactly my size.
It wasn’t long before a few things started coming through including the amazing Harry Potter inspired dress which was available in all four house colours; Gryffindor, Ravenclaw, Slytherin and Hufflepuff.
They also released a Barbie collaboration and again there were a few options in there that I loved.
My only worry?
Well they are USA based which means duties and customs etc and the worry that if something didn’t fit, it would be a right pain to send it back.
However I took a leap of faith and order a dress that I was just totally in love with.
The Goldwyn green velvet dress. Available in a range from size 2 to size 26!
The dress was originally £92 but was on offer for £72 when I purchased it and is now the bargain price of £52!
I wrote a review about the dress, which you can read here
Now as I said in the review, the dress was very stretchy and generous and I could easily have gone down a size or two. Saying that, the dress was stunning in quality and design and I was super chuffed to have taken the plunge.
Once I had made my first purchase, I couldn’t resist having a look at more.
There was so much to choose from and I was very, very, VERY tempted.
What should I go for?
The lovely Darla dress? Reasonably priced at £120.
Or the beautiful gold Vixen Starlet Wiggle Dress?
Well not quite….
I decided to go with something totally different and not really my normal ‘thing’
I pre-ordered ‘The Greatest Skirt on Earth’ which will be coming out on the 15th February.
Decently priced at £74, I just loved the unusual design; the big top curtains tying up on the side of the hips, the circus entertainers depicted all over the front.
Fun all round.
Now, being plus size I can appreciate that the curtains may make me look a little ‘hippy’. Now I don’t mean someone wearing flares, with John Lennon glasses, making a Peace sign; more a bit bottom heavy.
But you know what?
I love the whimsy of this skirt so much that I really don’t care.
In fact I am looking for matching jewellery to wear with a plain slash neck top and so far have found amazing offerings from La Vidriola and Baccurelli.
My absolute favourite is the Lion Tamer, which sadly was a run of only 15 pieces and is totally sold out. Typical, right?
So the only question now is which to go for?!?!
A Brooch? Or a Necklace?
I have to admit I love the ones that are a little different, such as the light up fortune teller – so clever! La Vidriola have some of the best brooches and necklaces. They really are statement pieces and most of them are limited edition runs of around 15 only.
Baccurelli have some great brooches and I am tempted to get a necklace from La Vidriola and brooch from Baccurelli, what do you think?
I have to admit I am pretty torn as they are all so wonderful. What do you think would compliment the skirt? I am probably going to wear a red or white or blue jersey long sleeve top with it, so it needs to work with a choice of colours.
I would love for you to let me know your feelings on both the skirt AND which pieces of Jewellery pieces I should go for?
Till next time,
SPSG xx
