So, when I left you last time I was staying at Anstey Hall for two nights due to the hubby needing a serious eye operation at Addenbrookes Hospital.
We spent the first day chilling at Anstey Hall and had a lovely meal at The Green Man in Trumpington.
Now it was down to the serious part of going to Addenbrookes at 0730 for the pre-op.
Arriving at the hospital, hubby was a little worried, but was trying to keep calm and relaxed.
Going through the tests it became apparent that his blood pressure was a little elevated. Well, when I say elevated, it was sky rocketing through the roof!
For the most part, the average/best reading is around 120/80.
His blood pressure was 203/130. Very simply NOT a good idea to operate on.
We spent over 8 hours in the hospital having everything checked. Blood tests, ECG, Pressure (repeatedly) thrombosis checks and more.
Thankfully he came out at the end of it with a diagnosis of high blood pressure, which they gave some medication for and an appointment made for a months time with a hypertension specialist.
This meant the eye operation was put on hold indefinitely; however this was for the best really. No-one wants their partner to have an unsafe operation!
Around 4pm we went back to the hotel and decided to have a bit of a nap. After all, it had been a bit of a long and stressful day.
Waking up around 6pm we decided to go to The Green Man again, to see if it was a good as the first visit. To be honest It was probably even better!
After another amazing meal, we returned to Anstey Hall and had a game of Snooker, which I was rubbish at. We had another couple of drinks from the Honesty Bar and got into a conversation with one of the daughters of the owner of the Hall.
She told us of some lovely art and special touches including the Ballroom so we wandered up to have a look. She was right, it was just so pretty.
I finished the night having a go on the Steinway Grand Piano in the library. How perfect an end to what started out a terrible day.
Waking up early the next day we headed down to the Breakfast area which had an array of items that you helped yourself to; cereal, full english, yoghurt, pastries and fruit as well as a variety of teas and juice.
We were transfixed by the room. There were Penny Farthings hanging from the ceiling, a whole cabinet of adding machines and the piece de resistance; a Motorbike.
I recalled his daughter saying that there were plans to move a car into there. I literally cannot wait to see this happen.
All too sadly it was time for us to leave and return home. The only upside to the operation being cancelled is we will have to stay over for a couple of days when it is re-booked.
Oh, and it is dog friendly and they have invited Theodorable along too!
Until next time,
