A year or two ago I met the fabulous Cam from Bow and Crossbones whilst at LondonEdge. Her stand called to me as it was full of pretty baubles and beads; Vintage style bangles, earring, necklaces and brooches. They were all designed by Cam; a lot of them based on original vintage designs.
I was in Love.
Since then I have purchased a few bangles and some earrings from her, and loved them. The price was exceptional and the quality outstanding.
Then, last summer I entered Miss Twinwood and had outfits and hats planned for if I was lucky enough to get through to the final ten. Cam very graciously offered to gift me some jewellery to wear. Sadly I got down to the top 30, but no further.
However I was still a big fan and continued to wear Cam’s designs.
I guess the only negative thing I could say was that being plus size, the standard Queenie bangles were just a little snug. Yes, they fitted but I would have liked a tiny bit more room.
Fast forward to LondonEdge 2019 in January and I ran into Cam again and we got to chatting. She went on to tell me that she had just designed a new size range called ‘Goddess’ and would I be interested in trying them out.
Well, who better to try out the Goddess range than The Secret Plus Size Goddess herself!
Cam asked me to drop her a line once LondonEdge was over and she would pop a couple of bits in the post for me to road-test. Of course I duly did that.
She asked me to choose ranges and colours from the site so she could get some idea of what would work with my outfits and styles and said to leave it with her.

I opened it up I could immediately see two of my favourite designs, Sally Snake and Snake Charmer on the top of some tissue paper. There were six bangles in all and I was over the moon.

Cam had included some stickers and promotional material and I unwrapped the four bangles and oohed and aaahd over them.
Extra Goodies
I started to remove the rest of the tissue so I could put the box in the recycling bin and was absolutely gobsmacked. Wrapped inside some white tissue were another nine bangles and a brooch.

Now this is where I began to be a little concerned. I sat in the living room with Mum and Baby Bear and unwrapped the items. We all looked and said the same thing.
‘They don’t look very big at all’
Indeed, looking at face value they seemed very tiny. Now, I know that Cam has a Princess range for the smaller wristed with a 6cm diameter and a Queenie range with a 6.5cm diameter.

At a glance I thought I had been sent Princess bangles by mistake. Hazel, Corday, Rita, Evelyn, Sally Snake and Snake charmer in three different colours. Surely they couldn’t all be too small?

But how can that be? Cam specifically wanted me to test the Goddess range at 7cm diameter out. There was only one way to find out.

We looked at all the bangles and they went for the one that looked like it was the smallest; Rita in black diamante. I was absolutely convinced that it wasn’t going to clear my knuckles and so were the family.

I picked it up, slid it down my fingers and it dropped nearly over my wrist. Not only did it fit, but there was plenty of room and it felt wonderful on.

If the one that seemed smallest was so generous, the others could only be even better.
And you know what?
Heavily patterned
They were!
Having larger wrists and forearms I cannot always wear a big stack as it looks silly and almost like my circulation is being cut off. I wear a maximum of 3 medium size bangles, however if I am looking at the mini size, I can sometimes get away with 5. But it isn’t that comfortable.
Lots of extra space
With Bow and Crossbones I could get more bangles on my wrist and they didn’t start cutting my circulation off. I managed to get 5 on one wrist which is very unusual for me.
I got Rita, 2 x Evelyn, Sally Snake and Snake charmer all on at the same time – Miraculous! I also managed to get the Evelyns on with the red Corday in two sizes and a snake charmer; all considerable thicknesses and it still worked

It was honestly amazing.
Cam’s designs are outstanding. They aren’t the standard choices that you see by other sellers and she really does put her heart and soul into it.
Her colour palette is more diverse than the standard pastels and primary colours and you will see Cobalt, Egg Yolk and Apple Juice in her range as well as some of the more well loved colours.

As for me, I have already worn three different collections and loved every little thing about them, especially the prices as even the most frugal of vintage lovers can find something on the site with earrings starting at £8.99 and Goddess bangles from £9.99, there really is something for everyone.
Oh and if you like your jewellery a little older, then she even has a range of original vintage items that she has sourced which also won’t break the bank.

So, I have the bangles, I now need to get some earrings and brooches to match; after all, when something is so reasonably priced, it would be silly not to get the collection!
