After the success of my ‘No Mirror Challenge’ at Q.L Salon, Little Chick asked if it was possible for her to have the same experience.
Being a poor Uni student, she doesn’t often get time to be pampered and so I contacted Louisa to book an appointment for the full works.
Little Chick has been having a pretty stressful time at Uni as her Masters Dissertation is due in the next few months. To say she has been struggling quite badly is an understatement.
So, the 18th of May came around and we had to be at the Salon for 9am.
Stupidly, I slept through the alarm and was woken up at the last minute and ran around getting ready.
We arrived to find Louisa all ready to start. She confirmed with Little Chick the kinds of things she definitely wouldn’t be happy with, which included shaved sections and a full fringe as it was a bit too much high maintenence.
And then it started!
Covering over the mirror, Louisa took the scissors to her hair which was past her shoulders. At least six inches must have been chopped off before Louisa finished and swept up the evidence so Little Chick had no idea what was going on.
Mixing a batch of something up, Louisa started putting it all over the remaining hair. I could instantly see that it was peroxide as the red started leeching out of her hair.
Over thirty minutes later and and the hair was covered and was starting to turn blonde.
Layers of pink foil were put on top to warm up the peroxide and get it working better.
Leaving it on for around 45 minutes, Little Chick started cross-stitching and chilling out.
In the middle I had to pop home and plait Baby Bears hair and walk the floof; well I say walk, I limped around!
Getting back to the Salon I walked in to find a pillar box red hair colour staring out at me. It was stunning.
Whilst Little Chick was out of the room I double checked with Louisa just what she was doing. She told me that she had chosen the full head scarlet colour as she knew that red hair was part of Little Chicks personality and didn’t want to stray too far away from that.
After the hair it was eyelash and brow time.
Individual Hollywood lashes were added to her already considerable natural lashes.
Her eyebrows were plucked and styled and then we sat down for a bit of lunch.
KFC was the order of the day so off I popped to fetch everyone’s food.
Whilst I was out, Louisa cut Little Chick’s hair and when I got back, it was all hidden under a towel so she couldn’t peek at it.
We all scoffed our KFC before it was time for nails to be done.
As her nails were already a nice length, it was decided not to put false tips on, and her nails were painted a gorgeous silver colour. On top of the gel polish, Louisa added silver glitter.
They were stunning.
Next came the make-up. a dark smokey eye matched the lashes perfectly.
A dark red lip finished the look. Stunning.
Almost done, it was time to style her hair. Louisa got the straighteners out and did her magic.
At the same time, a lovely lady called Jenny was having the same No Mirror Challenge. She was finished and was about to get her reveal.
To be honest we were all transfixed at her make-over. It literally took 20 years off her and we all told her so.
She was so thrilled with her new look, she put on a fabulous outfit and states she was going out to show her new look off. Fair play!
During the afternoon, the lovely Alicia had come in to have her hair done and she looked amazing.
She had stayed to see the two transformations and now it was Little Chicks turn.
Little Chick closed her eyes as Louisa and Janine took the covers off the mirror.
Her reaction?
She was blown away by it all.
Once she had seen the new look, Louisa told her she had cut a side fringe in, which could be brushed back or pulled forward for a different look.
Louisa started taking photographs as I stood there with tears running down my face. She told Little Chick to turn to face me for another picture and that was when they both noticed I was sobbing.
All of a sudden they were giving me hugs, as was Alicia as she was crying too! I think even Janine had a tear in her eye too.
It was a spectacular transformation and Little Chick was absolutely thrilled with her new look as was everyone else there watching.
I really can’t thank Louisa and Janine for all their hard work, and putting a huge smile on my daughters face.
Till next time,
SPSG xx
