Over the past four years I have followed a fair old amount of people on social media. Quite a lot of them are in the plus size community and I enjoy looking at their feeds, their style, their ‘presence’.
One of the ones I have loved the most is Aussie Plus Size Barbie over on Instagram. Her clothing was exceptional and I ended up liking a lot of her posts.
She reached out and thanked me and we became ‘online friends’.
A couple of years ago I even wrote a blog talking about her! You can see it here
Over the years she has helped me with sizing and styles as we were shaped quite similarly. I actually bought some of the same dresses as she was wearing as they looked so good on, I knew I would probably fit in them too.
And I was never wrong.
Earlier on this year I saw that she looked different to before and bloody good too. Whilst not asking about her weight loss (her body, her rules) I watched her style changing and evolving.
Still wearing the gorgeous vintage inspired looks, she looked stunning.
The upside in this was that whilst having a look at her Instagram one day, I saw she was selling absolutely lots of her dresses including some unicorns of mine.
Well, I had to take advantage, didn’t I?
First on my list was the White lipstick print dress from Vixen by Micheline Pitt.
I already own the skirt in this print but hadn’t been able to afford the dress at the time and it had sold out, not to return.
Here I could get a dress that I have lusted over and for a fraction of the cost too.
The second was a bit of a unicorn for me; a mint green Heidi in pin up girl print. I already have a couple of Heidi dresses and I just love the fit. Again into the basket it went.
The third dress was a bit special. A black tulle evening dress with lace. I just absolutely loved it and found out it was the Tatyana Cafe Noir dress.
I knew that the design would mean I would have to wear my corset but I thought it would be a great option for one of the evenings at Twinwood.
The last dress was a bit of a gamble; a blue summery dress with a rose pattern. The roses had beautiful ladies faces on them. I hadn’t seen this dress before and I absolutely loved it.
I was talking to Boo about my choices and she told me it was a Vixen by Micheline Pitt dress in Budding Beauties print.
She warned me of a slightly unusual bust-line and said when she tried it, it just didn’t sit right.
Well, I thought it was worth a go and I could always get it altered into a skirt if it really didn’t work.
Boo was going over to the USA for the Viva Las Vegas weekend and had actually arranged to meet up with Aussie Plus Size Barbie. She had also bought some dresses from her and was planning to bring them all home with her.
She offered to bring mine with her and it was just a perfect opportunity.
Of course I couldn’t wait to get them and be able to show them off.
So, last week Boo came for a visit. She brought the dresses with her and I was able to try a couple on, but due to my dodgy knee, didn’t feel comfortable enough to start sticking my corset on and making a huge effort.
But, I will get round to it soon enough and boy will I be showing those stunning dresses off.
Hopefully!
Until next time,
