If you read my regularly you will know I purchased a gorgeous skirt from Unique Vintage called ‘The Greatest Skirt’. If you missed it, you can read all about it here
It was on pre-order so I had to wait around 6 weeks, but I thought it was totally worth it. Whilst I was waiting I ordered this stunning La Vidriola Circus necklace to match it. All I needed now was a top and shoes.
I started looking around the regular sites; Simply Be, Yours, Pink Clove, etc. Whilst there was some beautiful things out there, nothing called to me.
Then I went onto Boohoo and they hit the spot!
I just couldn’t decide which top would go best. I had found three that I really liked, so I ordered them all. Thankfully it was when they were having a 25% off day so I managed to get three tops and a pair of shoes for less that £50. I don’t honestly know whether I will keep all three tops, however I plan on having a good old go and trying and seeing what works best.
I’ve got to the point where I cannot wear heels for any length of time. This means I do love to get a range of ballet flats in virtually every colour so I can match them to my outfits. For this reason I went with the Flat two-piece red shoes at just £13.50.
The three tops that I ordered were all different colours. I picked out the red, white and blue colours from the skirt and ordered accordingly.
The first one was a Slinky Split Sleeve top in blue. I thought the sleeves mirrored the split skirt and would give an unusual look. Priced at £12.00, it certainly was worth a go.
Second was the Off the shoulder Wrap top in White. A short sleeved v-necked top with a wrap belt. Not my usual style but I thought it could work quite well. As the skirt doesn’t have that much white in it, I think this may be the best of all my choices, if I am honest and a bargain at £13.50.
My last pick was a red Split Sleeve Bardot Top. The cheapest at just £9.00, I may well keep this to work with a couple of my Pin Up Girl Clothing skirts. It would be perfect for the summer!
So, what did it all look like?
I have to report it didn’t go well…..
The shoes, even though in my size were absolutely mahoosive and there was no way I could wear them without them flapping around on my feet and my toes popping out.
Moving on to the first top, again not very successful.
Don’t get me wrong, this was NOT Boohoo’s fault. It was mine and caused by my excitement over certain designs.
The blue bodysuit was stunning but so low cut (I never noticed) that all my bra and half my boobs would have been on show.
The white one was a little cropped so there was a couple of inches gap between the top and skirt. There are many people that could have worked with that, but I am not that body confident yet.
This left the red top which was perfect, but would need to be worn with a corset so that there were no straps showing. However the bones and structure of the corset showed really badly due to the tight nature of the top.
Sadly, I sent the whole lot back which gutted me slightly but was totally the right thing to do; I am ordering the shoes in the smaller size though.
I did however find the most amazing bag on eBay which the Mister said he would buy for me as a treat; I thought it would be a small clutch size, however it turned out to be about basketball size!
So, now what was a girl to wear.
Popping in my drawers for a red t-shirt to wear as a turban with the skirt I remembered a cheap slash neck white top from Primark; Perfect!
As it so happened, I had arranged to meet my blogger wifey Boo for a day out at the Tower Of London. Well, what better outfit could I wear than my Circus spectaculaire!
Watch this space for the post coming really soon!
Till then,
