I am a Disney Fan. Always have, always will be.
Watching them on the television as a child at Christmas, learning the words to all the songs, and giggling at the silly antics.
As I grew up, got married, this didn’t change either. We went to Florida on holiday. Collected expensive Disney Christmas ornaments, and the hubby even had a Winnie the Pooh silk waistcoat and bow tie.
My Favourite…
When the girls came along, their nursery was old- fashioned Winnie the Pooh. They had Disney clothing, toys and films.
We collected all the VHS films, even the more obscure like The Black Cauldron, The Three Caballeros and more. We collected the Sing-along-songs videos too. We must have had at least 70.
Then DVD’s arrived. We still kept our tapes and the girls absolutely loved them all.
Eventually around 4 years ago we got rid of the lot; donated them to a Market Stall. Didn’t earn a penny on them, but it didn’t matter. VHS was over and we didn’t even own a player any more.
The good thing is that we have Sky Q and they have a LOT of Disney movies on there. In recent years I have watched Moana, Brave, Toy Story (and its sequels) and more.

I fell in love with Merida; such a strong capable female role model, but loved Moana more. She was a girl who had dreams and went for them, irregardless of what her family wanted, for the best of the tribe.

It was my favourite film….
And then I saw Up.
The most wonderful, heartbreaking, inspirational animated film I have ever seen. I fell in love with Karl and Ellie; with Russell, Dug and Kevin the mystical bird.
Every minute of the film filled me with joy, sadness and even more.
I think I started crying around 5 minutes in and cried throughout the whole film. I found it really beautiful and so very moving.
So, it was just an amazing coincidence when I saw this dress from the Disney Dress Shop in America.
Now, being a 45 year old woman, I initially debated buying it. After all, it is a dress covered with animations from the film.
Then I realised I really didn’t give an absolute monkeys about what anyone thought. I loved it and that was all that mattered. I immediately ordered it and arranged for it to be sent to my Brother and Sister in Law in Indiana with the view to them sending it onto me.

Only problem was, Baby Bear gave me the wrong address; an apartment they had moved out of around 8 months previously. Fedex didn’t know this, and delivered it perfectly.
Thankfully, the honest people inside sent it straight back to the Disney Dress Shop. I just had to wait for a refund which took up to two weeks before I could order it again.

Eventually I got round to re-ordering the dress and had it sent straight to my house, with great thanks to the previously mentioned Brother and Sister in law who paid the extortionate postage that Disney insisted on charging.
Literally four days later my dress arrived and I was blown away. It literally fitted like it was made to measure. With a zip up front, balloons, house, Karl and Russell on the dress, it was my every dream come true.

I already had the cutest Karl and Ellie Disney Pin Trading Pin which I had got from eBay and planned to wear it as a brooch. All I needed now was something to put in my hair!

It was then that I had a eureka moment…
I had purchased some little wooden beehives to make a brooch and earrings for a previous outfit, so I popped onto eBay to see if they had any balloons.
I couldn’t believe my luck when I saw a set of 30 balloons in different sizes. I snapped them up and within a couple of days they were here. Using Marker pens I coloured them in random colours and then used a hot glue gun to make a hair accessory like no-one has ever seen!

All I was waiting for was the crocodile hair clips that I had ordered from eBay in which to attach the wooden balloons.
Since it’s arrival I have worn the dress a couple of times and have had so many comments. But even more so, I absolutely love the fit, style and design and feel like I am starting a new adventure, myself.
Just like Karl and Ellie.
