I think I have mentioned it several times before, but I LOVE musicals. Old, new, puppet, live action, spectaculars or intimate settings, I simply don’t care!
The musicals of the 50’s are probably some of my favourites but who doesn’t love a good old Rocky Horror Picture Show? I know I get absolutely frantically excited when I hear the songs or see the film/theatre performance.
Another of my favourites from that genre is Little Shop of Horrors. A sublime cast, catchy songs and a great story-line. I mean, I loved the whole Motown girl group vibe, dancing at the school disco’s to the tunes and actually having set dances to do to them!
Even now, put a bit of Motown on at a wedding or family party and literally everyone will get up and dance!
So, for me ‘Little Shop of Horrors’ ticks all the boxes.
Now, I could go on for hours about the film however that is not what this post is about; it is actually about a new dress!
A few months ago I saw the most beautiful Alfred Shaheen sarong design on Unique Vintage. It was a style I had been looking for, for a long time. A sarong with a draped shoulder.
However, it wasn’t made quite large enough for me. Several inches too small, I despaired over this fact.
Fast forward to last month and my blogger wifey Boo asked if I had seen the new email from Vixen by Micheline Pitt. Well, I was at work and so I hadn’t had a chance to check my emails and didn’t know what she was talking about.
Boo went on to tell me that Micheline had sent an email advertising three new designs that she was putting up for pre-order.
And oh boy, what a design it was.
Based on Audrey 2 from Little Shop of Horrors, Micheline was premiering a skirt, dress and a sarong.
With a draped shoulder!
Oh my word.
Of course I had to go and have a look straight away and what I saw made me drool. All three pieces were sublime, however I knew I couldn’t afford them all. I knew I had to go with the Sarong dress. It was a no brainer.
And so it was, that the dress was ordered. The only downside?
It won’t be made and sent out until the end of September.
But it really is worth the wait.
Do you think I chose the right one? Should I have chosen something else?
Till next time,
