As many of you know I love a good musical.
Old, New, Classical, Avant Garde, Historical or Factual, I really don’t care. I love them all!
Doris Day, Howard Keel, Fred Astaire, Judy Garland, Julie Andrews and even Yul Brynner. I bloody love them all.
I used to watch the old musicals with my Auntie on a Saturday afternoon. With a bag of sweet peanuts, cough candy or sherbet lemons and a bottle of pop, we would binge watch films (before it was a recognised thing to do). We would watch all genres too; hammer house of horror, drama, classics, Marx brothers, Harold Lloyd, Buster Keaton and even Carry On films.
It was what we spent our weekends doing. And I loved every minute.
So, hitting the 80’s and 90’s and finding a new genre of musicals was mind-blowing.
Rocky Horror Picture Show, Hairspray, Xanadu and above all, Little Shop of Horrors.
Little Shop of Horrors
Filmed in 1986 with the most amazing cast, the film featured a plethora of HUGE stars. With a musical script written by Howard Ashman and Alan Menken (famous for Disneys Beauty and the Beast, The Little Mermaid and Aladdin) the film was filled with comedic songs, one liners and a Romeo and Juliet like story.
Seymour Krelborn (played by Rick Moranis) is the hapless apprentice florist who is in love with his colleague Audrey. She is in a relationship with a sadistic dentist (played by Steve Martin) and Seymour wants to save her.
Along with a blood sucking plant (voiced by Levi Stubbs) Seymour gets the girl and things are good in the world.
Audrey and Audrey II
Or are they?
Anyway, I digress.
I bloody love Little Shop of Horrors. Audrey II is just amazing, a great character and I love watching the film.
It was about 6 months ago when I saw that Micheline Pitt (Vixen) was going to sell a design that had Audrey II on it.
The Haunted Honey Sarong Dress, the Tropical Terror dress and a skirt in the same print (Maneating Monster) all featured the plant from Little Shop of Horrors.
Haunted Honey Dress
Combined with a gorgeous raspberry coloured dress, I couldn’t wait to see the end results. And boy, was I impressed.
In fact, I absolutely loved them!
Sadly I couldn’t afford them all. However I have wanted a draped sarong for the longest time and as the Haunted Honey came in this style, I knew it was the one to have. The items were about to be released on pre-sale which meant we would have to order and pay for them and then they would be put into production.
You can imagine the excitement that was felt when the email came stating it had been dispatched. It literally was palpable.
Baby Audreys
The dress arrived and it was a STUNNER.
The material was exceptional quality, the pattern beautiful and the design was brilliant. I have several sarong dresses designed for PUG when Micheline was there and I adore them, however there is one small part on them that doesn’t work for me.
The bust area is designed with a cup shape made of several pieces of fabric. This is great if you have small breasts, however doesn’t even begin to fit someone with actual boobs!

This dress just has a straight forward front with no cups. Perfect and gives a much better silhouette.
Anyway this dress called for a special occasion to wear it, not just a visit to the local pub.
Haunted Honey
Such an event arose when going to see a Prince tribute artist at a local theatre. I love to dress up when going to the theatre and like making it a real event.
Curling my hair, putting on make-up and false lashes, fishnets, and my dress left me feeling on top of the world. Sadly due to my knee and ankle I couldn’t wear heels and my little ballet flats really didn’t finish the outfit off, but I had little choice.
Sexy Sarong
We had a fantastic time at the theatre and the dress got a few comments from some lovely ladies. It was so comfortable to wear and I felt absolutely fantastic in it.
I just need another night out to wear it again!
