As many of you know, I travel a fair amount with my blogger wifey, Boo and this year was no difference.
We had booked a holiday in the middle of last year to travel in February to Athens for 6 days and it had finally arrived and I was very excited.
If you read my blogs, you will remember one I posted a couple of weeks ago which you can see here.
Ready for the Off!
Now it was Tuesday and I was setting off. This time I had checked the temperature, planned my outfits and got the train tickets.
Baby Bear was dropping me off at Bedford Train Station so I could get the direct train to Gatwick Airport which took just over 1 hour 45 minutes. I got to chill out with my book and music.
On the train
Arriving at the airport I had a little while to wait for Boo so I watched a couple of shows on my phone via Netflix and just relaxed.
Boo arrived and we headed towards the check in desks. We had requested some assistance at the airport as my torn ACL was giving me some trouble and I was in a little bit of pain. We checked in straight away, bags were taken and we were directed to a desk where we went and booked in for our assistance.
Travel Companions
We gave my details and were directed to sit in a lovely comfy lounge area. what a start to our holiday!
Eventually it was time for our turn and we were taken to an electric cart where we would be driven to the departure gate. Now, usually I can make the walk slowly, however I didn’t know the North terminal at all and was unsure of the distance to the gates.
I am so glad I got the assistance as the walk was far longer than I had imagined or could manage. It was also a little bizarre as the cart pulled up to the passenger lifts and drove straight inside!

It was a bit of a tight fit but had us in fits of giggles.
We pulled up to the gate and took a seat by the exit doors to wait. Eventually we boarded our flight. Boo had a genius idea many months ago which was to pay for an extra seat on our row. This means we had extra space for the three and three quarter hour journey and didn’t have to worry about spilling over onto a travelling companion.
I got my earbuds out, a programme loaded up on Netflix and sat back to chill out.

It is entirely possible that I may have dozed off for a period of time as it didn’t seem too long before they announced that we were coming in to land.
We arrived at around 7pm and had a pre-booked taxi to take us to our hotel, The Acropolis Hill Hotel which would take around 35 minutes.
Coming in to land
The weather outside was warm, but given it was evening and pretty dark we couldn’t get a true idea of the City. Arriving at the hotel we booked straight in and headed for our room.
It was pretty small in comparison to the rooms we have had in the past, but perfect for us. We just needed to push the beds apart!
A Cosy Space
We had a little balcony and whilst there was no view of the Acropolis from our room, but there was a lovely view of the local residences, trees and a dog that Boo became pretty fond of.
When we arrived, the receptionist told us of the roof terrace with great views so we decided to head up there. It was a bit bizarre as all the floor numbers were not the actual floors that you were on!
Not bad, eh?
The terrace was beautiful; chairs and tables set out with Olive trees all around. However it was pitch black and we couldn’t find a light switch at all.
Nevertheless we managed to get a couple of photos and then headed off to bed. We had a walking tour booked for early morning and didn’t want to miss it.
