A Wishlist of Wonders - Secret Plus Size Goddess

Most of my readers know I am a key worker and so the majority of my time is spent at work for a Local Authority. This means for 3/4 of my life I am in full uniform; shirt, epaulettes, tie and trousers. The rest of the time I am in my Vintage finery.

Now COVID-19 has hit I seem to be in uniform (and masks and gloves) even more than before.

Full protection needed

As previously mentioned, my hubby is not working due to the virus. He is self-employed so is not making any money at all and it is a struggle to get mine to cover everything.

Whilst the negative part of me gets anxious, is struggling and more than a bit frightened of how to make ends meet, the positive side of me realises that things could be a LOT worse.

My family, friends, colleagues and loved ones are well and healthy. I have food in my cupboards and a roof over my head. I have a job and am not stuck in my house like majority of the Country.

Yes, I have bills that I am struggling to pay. But this will be over at some point and these can be addressed.

Things could be much worse!

A favourite saying from my old Auntie is ‘You have to cut your cloth’

This means that you have to adjust your lifestyle and spending depending on what money and resources you have.

This doesn’t mean that it stops me from looking at things I would love to own!

So here is my Easter run down of things I would buy given an unlimited amount of money.

Firstly my favourite company, Unique Vintage has just released an ‘I Love Lucy’ range.

For those too young to remember, Lucille Ball was a very famous face from the 40’s onwards. However it was the ‘I Love Lucy’ show that started in the 1950’s that really cemented her celebrity status.

I adore the show, her sense of humour and the funny faces she pulls. I love her style even more so and have rocked a poodle hair-do on more than one occasion.

Now there is a whole collection based on her style, including shoes, pin badges and even hair scarves. My favourite though has to be this dotty duster.

On the website it is worn over the matching Starlet jumpsuit and I simply adore this look. However I personally would pair it with a LBD or even some matching underwear. At £85 it is fairly priced and as it is so very versatile I think it would get a LOT of wear.

My second choice from this new range is the beautiful blue honeymoon swing dress with matching bolero.

This is such a frothy little confection that it would be perfect for a summer picnic. And I have a great hat that would match too.

The third choice is not from the Lucy collection. In fact it reminds me of Frenchy’s prom dress from Grease!

The ruffled tulle Cupcake swing dress is just so pretty. I genuinely love it.

However, there are a couple of drawbacks to this dress; I think it would make me look pale and insipid as I am as white as Casper the friendly ghost. Secondly I think I may be a bit too old for it. I sure would love to give it a try though.

Moving on to another company I have been a customer of recently, Hearts & Roses London. I have really loved their designs for quite a long time, but it is only recently that they have gone into my size range. I bought two dresses recently which I have to review but there are another few that I love.

Firstly is the Heaps of Leaves sailor Dress. I love the pattern and the design of the collar. The embellishments are really cute and I know this would get a lot of wear in the Summer months.

My second choice is a gorgeous dress in a colour that I would not normally wear; Grey.

For some reason though, I really love the Mix Floral Hepburn dress’ colour and pattern and I think it would be a lovely difference to my wardrobe.

Collectif Clothing has always been on my radar however until very recently with their Modcloth collab, I was unable to wear them due to the largest size being a 22. Now I can choose from a large selection of their range and there are a couple on my list.

The Maura denim pencil dress is a casual, cool vintage number that I think would be such an easy wear garment.

Pairing it up with the fabulous Charlene rock and roll cardigan gives a great look and I have a great handbag and a pair of rocket shoes that would really look the business with it.

In fact I have all the accessories to make this a fantastic outfit.

My last choice of company is the always wonderful Vixen by Micheline Pitt.

Now, many of you know I loved me some Pin Up Girl Clothing. At the start of my journey into plus size vintage/ps community I was called the PUG queen as it was all I wore, being that I struggled to get anything in this country.

I still have lots of their outfits and get so much pleasure from them. However a couple of years or so ago, Micheline left the company and Laura Byrnes decided to go in another direction. Whilst that direction is wonderful for many people, it just isn’t clothing I would wear.

Luckily Micheline set up Vixen and she fulfills all of my clothing desires.

Now my first choice is not one that I would ever have chosen for myself. Then I saw my Blogger Wifey Boo Brown of ‘Does my blog make me look fat’ in it at a photoshoot with LeKeux Salon and it was absolutely stunning.
