If you follow me, you will know that I did a recent post about some of the hats that I own, yet for whatever reason haven’t worn or probably won’t ever wear.
You can see them here.
In this post I am actually going to look at one of the hats that I forgot to add to this list.
This corker of a hat is is totally pristine condition. It looks like it has never been worn and there is probably a reason for that!
When I saw it online, it looked like the perfect platter hat. The photographs were taken from an angle that did not show its true size and I couldn’t understand why it had never been snapped up.
I kept seeing it on eBay and in a moment of tipsy madness, I decided to purchase it.
Knowing it would be a few days before it arrived, I was so excited to match an outfit to it. White and Red was simple to match. In fact I already had a dress that I thought it would go with.
And then it arrived!
I should have known by the size of the box that something was not quite right…..
I certainly never expected to have a hat the size of a satellite dish!
Clearly I had been swayed by the thought of a platter hat and I really was very new to the vintage scene. I certainly didn’t know better and I can only be thankful that it hadn’t cost me a huge sum.
Anyway, without further ado, I present the Mitzi Lorenz Mad Hat!
Apparently looking on the tinternet I found out that Mitzi Lorenz had come over from Vienna in 1936 and founded her Millinery company in 1946. I couldn’t find out any information about my hat, but I am guessing it may be from the 1970’s or 1980’s?!?
Either way, it is totally not me or my style so I think this is definitely one for the sales.
For now it will take up the top half of my wardrobe!
Until next time,
