If you are a long time reader you will know of past trips down to Enfield for their Day of Vintage.
I have been lucky enough to model for Hotties Vintage twice and it was on my second visit that I was so very lucky to meet Andrew and David of ‘House of Drewvid’
Two wonderful Hairdresser/Stylists extraordinaire. Oh and they love their vintage too!
On this occasion, they had managed to turn a humble tent into a past paradise, with furniture, photographs and frou frous, including vintage make-up and hair accessories.
At the time I had pretty short hair, but David was able to take what little hair I had, curl and set it into a cute vintage style that I absolutely loved.
I went down to see them again for a cut and style, which was out of this world but it was a bit tricky for me to get to, especially when the Motorways were being dug up everywhere and being made Smart?!
This year, of course COVID hit and all events were cancelled.
But that didn’t stop Andrew and David.
On top of the normal services that they usually offer, they decided to offer a range of vintage style hair accessories, including snoods and flowers.
And they were stunning!
How do I know this? Well, they went live on Saturday the 6th June and I was there online, waiting with baited breath.
Oh boy. I was not disappointed and neither were some of my Vintage loving compatriots.
Flowers combined together to make wonderful compositions. Velvet ribbons in complimenting colours. Unusual shaped arrangements.
All of them absolutely stunning.
And I couldn’t resist!
Thankfully it is my birthday in three weeks and my family usually gives me a little money. As I know these arrangements were limited, I decided to get the one I really loved and hope I get a few pennies!
Of course, that was the difficult part. Choosing my favourite one!
I eventually managed to narrow down to two.
The Red Tropic Orchid arrangement and The Pink Orchid and Puce Hibiscus accessory.
Now Orchids are one of my favourite flowers (alongside Tulips) and I have a few hair accessories that feature them. Obviously as they both had Orchids, that didn’t help me choose.
In the end I had a look at the general sizes and decided that the smaller one was still quite large and possibly more suited to my hair and face shape.
So, I went ahead and ordered the Pink and Puce one.
It only took a couple of days to arrive and I have to say, I was not disappointed in one little bit!
The flowers are sublime and the shaping is different to anything else I own.
I have one or two outfits that I think it will go with perfectly and I am in secret talks with a wonderful seamstress about a made to measure dress, which I will reveal in good time.
In the meantime, why not go and have a look at the range Andrew and David have designed, I am sure you will find something you fall in love with.
Until next time,
