A couple of weeks ago I wrote a blog about my friend Jane and the amazing nails that she has been painting and embellishing.
This is something that she has been learning whilst in lockdown due to having a serious illness. It keeps her busy and has also meant that she has been able to really focus and hone her art and talent!
She has sent me some nails to try out so I could road test them and let her know what I thought with regards to wearability and practicality. I had loved wearing them however the length of them had made them a little bit tricky with the amount of typing that I do for both work and my blogging hobby.
When I say they were long, they were long for me, but super short compared to the ones Jane wears!
Super Long is exactly how Jane likes to wear them, however as a touch typist I did find it harder than normal. Not impossible though and after a few hours, it became easier and easier.
In fact, I wore them for a whole week at work without many typing issues and they looked stunning.
The second pair I tried were considerably shorter and different in style. I found them even easier to wear and absolutely loved having colourful, decorative nails.
Jane had me re-measure myself against some different shaped clear nails as I was finding that some of the more straight styles such as the Ballerina were not quite hitting the edges of my nail shape.
She took the details of the best fitting nails and I let her have free rein.
Oh boy, was I blown away by what she made especially for me!
She had created six different sets for me. Some of them were based on ones I had seen on her Instagram and had really loved and then she had created new ones including some short, simple square ones so I could test those out for everyday wear.
Starting with those they were a simple oil spill paint with a small gold edge across the top. These were the perfect shape and style for me to wear to work. Totally practical and so easy to wear to type!
I know however that the length of these doesn’t allow for very much embellishment, however I am more than happy to have simple, well painted nails for work and then long talons for going out or events.
The second pair were beautifully detailed and I thought would be great for a wedding. White and Gold with Swarovski crystals, I wore them to work for over a week. They were very feminine and I think the perfect length for me.
Sadly the gold jewel on the middle finger got caught on my work desk after 5 days. This was not that much of a problem as I used some tweezers to take off the corresponding jewel on the other hand.
Let me tell you, it was pretty damn stubborn and did NOT want to come off easily.
Typical!
Set three was one of my favourites.
Long teal ballerina style with simple bronze gems on one nail and two were marble effect. I really liked the perfect simplicity of this pair.
They were super long so I will be keeping them for an event and I think I have the perfect outfit to wear with them.
The last three pairs were very ornate but also had a simplicity in their stylings.
They were all similar to sets I had seen on Instagram but with subtle changes to make totally individual designs.
The first set included two nude nail with gems, a white and gold checked design on one whole nail and then two partial nails with nude AND white/gold hatching.
They were fantastic and I love the ballerina nail as it has the straight top. This also makes them easier for typing.
Down to the last two pairs, which were both stiletto shaping. One set were black, nude and gold and the other were nude, glitter and topaz.
I have no idea how Jane managed to make the topaz/tortoiseshell patterned nails, however she did tell me it was all done by hand!
Absolutely beautiful, yet very elegant and simple.
The very last pair were as long as you could possibly get.
Black and Gold specks, jewels, lines and matte paint. They were classy and gave such a stunning look on the hands, that I couldn’t wait to wear them.
I actually then got a little sensible and decided they were just TOO good to wear on a random day. They really needed to be seen at an event or a night out.
They really are that glamorous.
So there you have it, six sets of amazing nails, in varied shapes, sizes and lengths. Jane really loves creating her art and I think she is really talented at it too.
I just can’t wait to wear her next designs!
Till next time,
