Many of you know I was chosen as ‘The Face of Le Keux 2020’ at the beginning of this year. It was a total honour, surprise AND privilege to be named as the winner and I was excited to do all the amazing vintage adventures that went along with the title.
Sadly, COVID hit and most of that went down the Swanee. Social Distancing, Lock-down and shop closures meant it would all have to be put on hold until a later and safer time.
Jump forward a few months and I was on my way to Leigh-on-Sea, Essex for my first Le Keux assignment with Miss Irregular Grace, the owner of Le Keux Essex.
Also known as Anna, she had invited me to take part in a vintage photo shoot along with some other ladies to publicise the salon as well as have a good old jolly day.
I was late arriving as I had to drop Baby Bear off at Stansted before travelling onward so when I arrived everyone was pretty much ready and having a bit of a giggle.
Anna styled my hair and my makeup was done before putting on the first outfit of the day which happened to be my Pin Up Girl Clothing pink rose Ella dress.
Paired with pink flowers, bangles and earrings, we posed and preened. I was so lucky to be joined by three lovely ladies and two younger girls.
The amazing Carli Norris of Chocodolly (and the television) had her two daughters, Betsy and Lola modelling some of her range (which is stunning) and then there was the fabulous Scarlet la Rox with her green and black hair. Finally there was the beautiful Gemma who had the most beautiful figure.
Then there was me; the shortest, fattest and probably least ‘model’ like.
But you know what? I had an absolute whale of a time including laughing my socks off at Carli and her impressions and silliness. You can tell she is a born actress as she kept us all entertained for hours!
I managed to have a little chat with her about an outfit that I desperately want to have made by her, that I saw at Twinwood and fell instantly in love with. She is able to make them to any sizes and this made me so happy, you wouldn’t believe.
There is a plan already in progress to save up my money and get the dress of my dreams. I just need to choose what fabric!
The second look was tropical and I had two changes; Pin up girl Tiki dresses in both blue/maroon and red/orange. Of course, accessories and flowers had to be changed too, so it was a good job my niece had organised them into colour groupings and put them in large sandwich bags.
The last outfit was the Darcy gingham dress with bee jewellery and yellow hair flowers. This is one of my favourite dresses so I was happy to pose in it.
It was about then when someone suggested doing some dancing!
I managed to do a half dozen box steps before my knee said ‘Don’t be a fool’ and I sat down to watch the others move into a double jive. It was great watching but I was disappointed that I couldn’t really take part.
Anyway, the shoot went on for a few hot and sticky hours as the temperature was in the 30s. We struggled on through until the early afternoon when Anna called ‘Wrap’ and we happily got out of our glad-rags.
I stood chatting for awhile with the amazing photographer Chloe and we got onto the topic of Harry Potter, having adventures and wearing what makes us happy.
I literally could have stood chatting for hours, but it was time to get a move on and find my home for the night, a few miles away in Southend.
Watch out for the next post, coming soon!
Till next time,
