Regular readers know that I frequently run out of patience with my hair. This happened recently when I decided to bleach my hair in order to go grey.
All that actually happened was I turned my hair into a big straw mess!
From the front I thought it looked pretty good and I had just got a few brownish areas at the sides that needed some work. My intention was to give it a week or two to recover before putting a little more grey into it.
In the meantime I got myself some Olaplex from Amazon to help the situation out.
All in all, I thought it was not too bad at all.
Oh boy, how wrong was I?
Jump forward a week and I was visiting the fabulous Lu of QL Salon who was going to be doing a demo and touch up work on my eyebrows.
She was fully aware of just what I had to done to my hair and asked a simple question…
‘What exactly are you going to do with your hair?’
My response was ‘Whatever you want to do with it!!!’
I knew that I had bitten off far more than I could chew and I needed Lu to work her magic. She said she would look what she had in her cupboard and try and do something with the mess I had created.
Unpinning my hair, I heard Lu’s intake of breath.
Oh boy, just how bad was it?
Lu took a picture of the back and I saw just what a mess I had created. Could she seriously fix my f*ck up?
As always I put myself in her hands as she mixed up some colours in a bowl. I genuinely didn’t know what she was going to do (which is quite normal) but I did state that I would really prefer to stay grey as I had so much natural grey hair coming through, that I wanted to allow the natural to blend in with the dyed sections as it was growing through.
Either way I just let Lu get on with it; painting colours over my hair and clipping sections up as she went.
Whilst it was processing we had a discussion about the eyebrows. She was training a lovely lady who was going to be offering brow treatments in her own salon.
I was going to be a bit of a guinea pig for them.
Eventually my hair was ready to wash off which excited me very much!
Once washed off, Lu quickly blow dried most of the moisture off so I could then get my eyebrows sorted out. She would then style it afterwards.
All that did was make me have to wait a lot longer till I was able to see just what she had come up with and of course my anxiety was getting to me a little!
I should have known better as Lu has always come up with the most amazing transformations for me in the past and now was no exception.
After curling my hair I was left with a gorgeous smokey grey, lilac and red blend which made my hair look not only shiny and healthy but SO pretty!
I was so over the moon with the transformation but the best part of it was that the dry straw like mess was eradicated.
Lu really did work a miracle (again) and I couldn’t be happier.
Hopefully it also means I have learnt my lesson about slapping bleach on my hair when I am bored.
Nothing good ever comes from it…
Till next time,
