So with the name of this blog, you may be forgiven for thinking that I am going to be talking about biscuits or cookies.
Gingerbread is obviously very traditional during the festive time and in past years I have made my fair share of houses and cookies with the children.
Oh and eaten my fair share too!
Recently Baby Bear made some different gingerbread cookies and I have to say, they were so cute and tasty, that I genuinely can’t wait for her to make some more.
Anyway, I digress.
In this case, I am not actually talking about food of any kind.
Instead, I am referring to a most beautiful handmade set that recently arrived from the wonderful Devil and Desire who makes a range of dresses, skirts, headwear and facemasks.
Having a size range from 4 to 26 means that there is a lot of choice and I was really chuffed with the wide variety of Christmas offerings.
It was actually my blogging wifey Boo who pointed me in Devil and Desire’s direction as she showed me a skirt she had ordered which had a stunning poinsettia pattern.
I made contact with them and received email assistance from Andrea and asked if it was too late to order for Christmas. She was really lovely in her communications, stating that it wasn’t too late however she didn’t have a lot of Christmas material left so this could have an effect on what she could do for me.
She was already aware of what size I needed as I had put it in the original email and that I was looking for a skirt, mask and turban. I went to have a look and see what was on offer and was really taken with a lovely gingerbread pattern.
Speaking to Andrea I mentioned the one that I really liked and she was very quick to advise that she unfortunately couldn’t get hold of any more of that print, however had another gingerbread print which she sent a picture of.
I actually loved this print even more and was quick to place my order for all three items.
Andrea sent me her Paypal information and I duly paid.
Now all I needed to do was wait and hope it would be here before the 17th December which is when I wanted it for.
Little did I expect that it would be here as quickly as it actually was!
Placing my order on the 24th November, I had a lovely response from Andrea to say that material was ordered on the 25th and would be arriving soon.
You can then imagine my absolute surprise when Hermes knocked on the door on Sunday evening with two parcels; one of them being a black tissue wrapped package.
I have to admit, I thought it was actually something that I had ordered as a present so I was gobsmacked when I opened it and found the three items inside.
Now given the timescale that was involved, you might be forgiven for thinking that the items were a little rushed or perhaps not as well made as you might expect.
And again, you would be wrong. The quality, sewing and finish on all three items is exceptional.
The face mask is made of individual sections which give a great look as well as a fantastic fit. The skirt is full, with a fixed button closure waistband and the twist turban has wiring inside that allows you to create a multitude of looks.
The print is fun and bright. The gingerbread boys and girls are very comical, and the green background really sets them all off.
I already have a green top which I plan to wear and my Erstwilder ‘Ginger’ brooch which I have had for several years now. He really is a cutey and will look perfect.
So, how did it all look on?
Well I added a dark green long sleeve jersey top that I bought from Tesco, my recent bangle haul and some little vintage style shoes from Hotter.
All I need now is for the next couple of weeks to speed by, so I can wear the outfit for the dress down day at work!
Especially with the matching mask, I am ready and raring to go.
Oh and I think it might get a second outing on Christmas Day, after all it is perfect.
Till next time,
