As you all know, I love a good dress.
I have a couple of hundred in my spare room (I am ashamed to admit) but I do wear them whenever I am not in my work uniform, so it is not a waste at all.
The blog wifey Boo and I love a good sale and there is usually none better than the Black Friday sale and this year was a corker.
Boo messaged to see if I wanted anything from America and I had kept my eye on this little beauty from Unique Vintage. The Mocha Ruffled Cupcake Dress.
I literally adored it and my heart told me I would get a lot of enjoyment from wearing it.
However, my brain kept telling me I would look like a short fat fairy from the top of the Christmas tree.
Or even worse… Like one of those dolls that you use to cover toilet rolls.
Eventually my heart won over and Boo and I placed our Black Friday orders.
So, why did I love this dress so much?
I think it is because it reminds me a great deal of the dress Frenchy wore to the prom in Grease. Although hers is yellow, it is very similar in design and I always loved it.
To be fair, I also loved the dress that Rizzo wore to the prom which was definitely more alluring and sexy!
Anyway, going back to what I was saying. This dress just really called to me. I loved the Mocha colour and the ruffles are really unusual.
Add in the satin bodice section and you have a really different dress to what is normally on offer.
I have to admit to being a bit nervous about the dress arriving; after all is is totally not the style that I would usually go for.
When you are large busted and big all over, you tend to go for unfussy designs as they flatter more. Having rows of ruffles will bulk out the body and make me look even bigger than I actually am.
But you know what? I had to go for it. I just need to wait for it to arrive now.
To be honest though, Unique Vintage merchandise is always of an exceptional quality, so if it really doesn’t suit then I could sell it on.
However, I think it will be a perfect outfit for the big vintage events of 2021; after all this year has been so bloody awful that next summer will hopefully be a lot different.
Party at Twinwood, anyone?
Till next time,
