Many of you know that one of my daughters, Little Chick contracted the COVID virus at the beginning of this month and this meant all of us had to stay in isolation for two weeks.
Thankfully, although she was unwell she wasn’t as bad as many people have been and I am happy to report that she has recovered well and is back to work in a local mental health hospital.
However, this meant that the whole family was stuck inside the house for a couple of weeks. I was actually able to work from my laptop and so continued to work as per normal however the rest of the family weren’t.
One of the upsides to this was that I was able to be home to answer the door every time there was a parcel delivery (all the things I bought online as gifts) but it also meant that whilst at home in the evenings I spent a fair bit of money on gifts and bits and pieces.
To celebrate the buying of the last gift and having some of my wages over, I had a bit of a spending spree over at Revolution, a brand of cosmetics that I have previously bought from Superdrug.
I was bimbling on Instagram when a post came up advertising a sale on the Revolution website so I just happened to pop along to see what they had.
And boy, did they have a whole lot of stuff!
They were offering up to 50% of their ‘Goodbye 2020’ sale. I was immediately sucked in.
I have to admit that I love buying make-up. However, I am really quite rubbish at doing it, so I give it a go, look stupid and then it gets shoved in a drawer, never to appear again.
To be honest, I really need to get some lessons as when I try, it just looks either like Coco the clown or I have been punched in the face.
Anyway, I digress.
Although I went to look at the sale, I also had the intention to have a look for some moisturiser as my face had become very dry and dehydrated which it tends to do in the Winter, both from the climate and the central heating.
I had heard some good things about their ‘Mood’ range which includes the Stressed, Angry and Thirsty Mood.
The Thirsty Mood range comprises of a Quenching Moisture Gel, Quenching Booster, Quenching Cleansing Cream and even a sleep eye mask.
I was also amazed to see that this range was included in the sale. In the basket went the moisturise gel and booster. At fifty percent off, it made them just £5 each
Bargain.
I also popped in some essentials, like concealer, highlighter, brush cleanser and some dark red lipstick; Halloween vinyl Liquid Lip in Scream and a duo set Retro Luxe in Vampire Night.
Whilst most was 50% off, some were only a few pennies off; 50p here and there. However every little helps!
The best bargain was a stunning eye shadow palette that I had been looking at a couple of weeks ago. The Revolution Collab with Jack.
A set of eyeshadows that either helps you create four different eye looks via the four sections. Each quarter is made up of five carefully curated shades, to create a full eye look OR you can go off piste and use the colours just how you fancy.
Now down from £10 to just £3! A reduction of 70%
And a perfect stocking filler too.
I also added the Mischief Maker palette with names such as Deviant, Shameless, Maverick and Artistic Licence, the names made me chuckle whilst the colours filled me with joy.
This was down from £8.99 to £4.50 which again was a brilliant saving.
Another great buy which is brilliant but I have a bit of an issue with is the Star Primer. Down from £10 to just £3, this primer get 4.5 stars out of 5 from reviews. I will explain the issue shortly.
I popped two into my bag as I needed primer and this was a great price.
The last couple of things I popped into my basket was two Revolution Rainbow Tones colours, which are 8 – 12 week wash out colours which are also conditioning treatments, which I could do with pretty drastically given that I messed my hair up in October with a bottle of peroxide and an afternoon where I was bored!
I added the Silver Galaxy and Sweet Peach, again with 50% off which I intend to use over the Christmas period.
So how did I do?
The total basket should have come to £101 which I got for just £50.50. As I was a brand new customer, I got 10% off for signing up to their email newsletters and they have a points scheme where you save up points that you get for every pound you spend and you can redeem the points for money off coupons.
Winner, Winner!
Three days later a box arrived on the doorstep which was pretty weighty. I was so excited to see just what it was all like.
I have to admit that I was even more impressed than what I thought I would be.
The Mood skincare is so good that I intend to buy some more before the price goes back up. It has made my face feel so much more hydrated in three days than anything else I have ever used.
The eye palettes are brilliant. Bright vivid colours, silly names and perfect shades, they really are outstanding and I am looking forward to trying lots of looks.
Now, I mentioned earlier about an issue that I found with the Star Primer; whilst I had read the ingredients, I have to admit that it didn’t really sink in. The product actually contains Anise Extract.
I absolutely hate the smell and taste of Aniseed. Even sweets as a child make me feel sick if they smell of aniseed.
However, I was very brave and slapped it on my face. Boy, was it strong!
But, I have to admit the primer is stunning!
It sets up your face perfectly to take your make-up and the result when you have done it, is so much much professional than what I expected.
My make-up is going on so much better (and lasting) and I am glad to report that the aniseed smell disappears as soon as it has soaked into the skin.
Bonus!
The sale is going on for a few more days yet if you need last minute presents, or like me, you wanted to treat yourself to a pre-Christmas treat.
I highly recommend everything I bought and you wouldn’t go far wrong with them, either.
Till next time,
