You all know I love a good dress. I mean, I have a couple of hundred of them in my spare room – now re-jigged to being a dressing room!
Whilst many people could say I don’t need even one more dress, I cannot help gravitating towards beautiful pretty clothing which somehow seems to fall into my basket and get delivered in a box to my house.
It is almost like magic!
And it was magical to receive this stunning Dolly and Dotty dress just before Christmas.
Nautical Niceness
I have adored the Darlene Dress for quite a long time, but for some reason I have never got round to getting one before and I have to say, this one is an absolute classic stunner.
Christmas Decoration
The retro nautical full circle dress is quite unusual in the fact it has a standard blue skirt, with red, white and blue stripes. The boat neck style is classic and has two contrasting buttons which really stand out.
Rear Silhouette
Having a full skirt is always a bonus as it works very well with a petticoat. This is no exception; with or without a full petticoat, it works really well.
In the Navy (and red and white)
I paired this with a cute little pair of blue and white kitten heel shoes, although for the photos I wore some exceedingly high heels which wouldn’t be practical for walking around the supermarket!
Impractically High
Adding some beautiful red, white and blue hair flowers from Ruby Boo Makes which I purchased for VE Day and a red original vintage handbag, I was all set to spread some nautical joy to the World.
A better option of shoe
This dress is still available on Dolly and Dotty at the reduced price of £30, however is limited to just sizes 10, 12, 14 and 16.
Red, White and Blue
The Darlene does come in many patterns and colours; in fact there are over 30 different ones. The brand has a size range from 8 to 26, so caters for a fair number of people.
Trimming the tree
One of the best things I like about the website is that you can either search for your specific sizing OR search for a specific dress name, far easier than any other site I have seen. It is so user friendly and by putting in my size, it has brought up designs of clothing that I didn’t even know they did.
Perfectly Patriotic
Seems like a bonus to me!
A bit random…
Going back to this dress. It is so classic, yet multi-functional. The material is soft and smooth; easy to wear and easy to dress up. I would be happy wearing this to do my shopping, or to go for lunch or even glam it up and wear it for an evening out.
Mid Pose!
I have now got a lovely little red cape that I think will complement this dress really well. Again its a retro style with a pussycat bow and I think it will be perfect.
