Many of my readers will be aware of several recent collaborations that I have done with Shein including capes, pyjamas and outfits.
They had contacted me just before Christmas and asked if I would like to choose four pieces to review and I was eager to try and get some items to photograph alongside Christmas decorations as a backdrop.
I sent an email requesting three different dresses and a jacket and it was not too long before the package arrived on the doorstep.
Inside was the Zip-up Jacket in a dark cream colour, the Baroque print dress, the button sleeve floral dress and the burgundy a-line dress.
My plan was to pair the jacket and Baroque dress together to make a smart winter outfit, the floral dress for a smart meal out and the burgundy dress as a lovely option over Christmas.
Sadly, with the ongoing pandemic, I wasn’t able to take advantage of some of those options. However, there was a stunning Christmas tree, sparkly lights and decorations to use as a backdrop to the fabulous clothing.
So, what was it all like?
The item I was really looking forward to was the Baroque dress, as I really liked the pattern.
In reality it was actually my least favourite item!
Don’t get me wrong, it was for no other reason than it was very generous in its sizing and I felt it swamped me a little. Going forward I think that I need to add a belt to it, to pull the dress in somewhat.
I am now thinking that instead of the jacket, I need to add black boots, belt and a felt wide brimmed hat. I already have all of those things in my wardrobe so I will make that happen in the near future.
This dress is now in the January Sales for the fabulous price of only £11.49.
Moving on, the jacket was pretty cool though.
Based on a motorbike style jacket, it was made of a creamy soft felty material, but had the chunky metal zippers of a bike jacket. even the sleeves had zips on the edges.
It was ever so soft and I thought a perfect match to the colours within the dress.
Also in the sale, this is a great little jacket for a great price; £10.99.
My favourite dress was actually the blue button sleeve floral dress. The material was so soft and smooth feeling against my skin. It was an absolute joy to slip into.
The floral decoration was right up my street too; peonies in a variety of colours. I already have a flower hair accessory that will match it perfectly.
I loved the wooden buttons down the sleeves and the simple tunic style to the dress. It is a really light and easy dress to wear.
Whilst this isn’t in the sale, at only £18.49, it won’t break the bank.
My final choice was the red A-line dress with a pattern of gold.
This one was a sparkly stunner and I thought it was really Christmassy. I knew I had a pair of gold shoes somewhere in the wardrobe and a gold hair flower would sort out the look in time for maybe a Boxing Day look.
After hunting for the shoes, I remembered I had donated them to a local charity back in a Summer clear out.
Ooops!
I had a quick re-think and added some burgundy flats and I was set.
This particular dress comes in a choice of seven colours and at £18.49 you could probably get a couple and have totally different looks.
All in all I was really pleased with my four choices, even though they didn’t end up exactly as I had envisioned!
