As many of you know, I have quite a large collection of hair flowers.
Part of the attraction is that they really finish off a hairstyle, especially of the vintage variety. A victory roll looks stunning but can be really finished off with the addition of a lovely floral accessory.
Now, I get my flowers from four or five main places; Pin Up Curl, Shazam, Peacock Pretties, The House of Drewvid and RubyBooMakes.
It was a couple of weeks ago I saw a few new makes on RubyBoo’s page. She had been working on a few things including Valentines Day and had also come up with some sets; a corsage for your clothing and a hair flower.
Of course, I love a good set and have a couple that I had previously purchased from her. I saw a pretty little one on her Instagram and I immediately made contact to see if the set was available.
Sadly someone had already purchased part of it. They had wanted the hair flower but not the corsage which left me with a dilemma.
Did I want just the one piece that was left?
Speaking with RubyBoo, she very kindly offered to make a second hair flower that would match with the corsage she had left and once completed would show me. If I liked it, then I could get both or just the one.
Well, that sounded a great idea to me, so I asked her to go ahead with making the hair flower. She came back to me after a few days with a matched pair and they were glorious!
RubyBoo then showed me a lot of other flowers she had been working on.
Sadly her dad had passed away last year and she had been creating a range called ‘A Daughters Love’.
These were based on the beautiful garden he had loved to work in. As the garden was starting to come back to life and preparing to bloom into Spring, Rubyboo planned to release more designs in memory of her wonderful Dad, Tony
She had also been making some special romantic Valentines flowers. Not surprisingly some of those fell into my basket.
Three days later a large box arrived.
Excitement reigned!
Eagerly opening the box, there was a thick layer of protective bubble wrap.
Removing it, I saw each flower was individually wrapped in tissue paper with little thank you heart stickers closing them up.
It was like Christmas!
Opening each package I saw Anemones, Peonies, Chrysanthemums, Hellebores and more.
Two of the designs were from her up and coming Valentines Day collection and were embellished with tiny velvet ribbons. They were so very beautiful.
Putting them all together, there was a stunning collection of blooms. I could even begin to see what outfits I wanted to pair the flowers up with.
One of the best things with RubyBoo’s designs is that she always puts a strong hair clip on the back as well as one or two brooch pins (depending on the size and weight). This means you can wear them on your outfits or in your hair.
For the sets, this is even more multifunctional. I have listed here some of the ways you can use them –
Double hair flowers, one each side.
One hair flower and One on the shoulder
Double shoulder flowers
One on the shoulder, One at the Waist
One in the hair/shoulder and one on a clutchbag
Obviously you can also just wear the one piece, if you wish it to be a little more simple in style.
For me, I love the fact that I can use them in so many ways. As you all know, I am someone who likes everything to match and this is absolutely the best way to do it.
RubyBoo will be releasing even more flowers soon. They are of an exceptional quality and this is possibly due to her background in costume and fashion. Having worked for Madame Tussauds as a Costume Supervisor for many years, this means she has a great eye for design and colour combinations.
Currently she sells her floral creations on both Etsy and at four different premises in Bedfordshire and Northamptonshire. The best part is that she will also make custom creations to match your specific needs, which I have taken advantage of in the past!
For her pre-made items, prices start at just £8.00 which is an absolute steal, given the quality. The sets are a difficult thing to price each part is individually priced depending on the size of the piece itself.
The custom Chrysanthemum set was priced at £18 for the larger piece and £12 for the smaller. I think £30 for two custom floral pieces is exceptionally good value.
If you fancy trying out her creations, Rubyboo has a sale on at the moment with 15% off on selected items.
The CODE to use is JAN21 and is valid until the 8th February so you can go and bag yourself a bargain.
All of her items are beautifully wrapped and secured with bubble wrap to make sure that they arrive in perfect condition. As they aren’t especially heavy, postage is very reasonable too.
She will even post Worldwide but obviously duties must be paid by the customer.
I have to admit there are a couple of things still on her site that I am very partial to, so would highly recommend going and checking her out before a few more fall into my basket!
I can promise you won’t regret it.
Until next time,
