I have spoken in the past about some kimono/robes that I have purchased and been sent for review from the fast fashion company, Shein.
Some I have worn in the bedroom as they are meant, others are outdoors variety and then there are the other ones that are supposed to be for use in the bedroom but I have chosen to wear outside!
By this I mean long length robes that I have worn as vintage 1930’s beach pyjamas. If interested you can read more here
This time though, I am actually going to be reviewing some kimonos that are meant to be worn outside as a smart, classy option instead of a blazer or a cardigan.
I was having a look on the Shein site for more wigs (see my recent obsession on Instagram) when this first Kimono popped up in the ‘Items you might like’ section.
And they were not wrong!
I was literally drawn in by the sheer material which was so heavily embroidered with colourful flowers that I had to take a closer look.
The kimono was mindblowingly priced at just £9.99 which is just bonkers given the stunning item that I received.
Predominantly pinks, yellows and turquoise, the flowers are scattered around the bottom of the kimono and the ends of the sleeves. The Sheer black material is generously designed and I took a risk that the size 22 would fit me, which I am glad to say it did.
It was whilst looking at this kimono that my second purchase came up as a recommendation.
Slightly higher priced at £10.99, this kimono was actually a better quality offering that even the first one. Ruby red roses decorate the bottom half of the robe and all the way up each sleeve.
The roses are full blooms with green stems and leaves and it really does make a statement.
There is also a darker edging along the length of the kimono which gives it a more finished look.
I ordered this in a size 24 to hopefully give me a little more space.
Again as I was putting this in my basket, the third kimono came up as ‘something I may like’ and I certainly did.
Rather than a sheer material, this one is made from polyester so whilst it is a heavier garment, there is a small amount of sheerness to it.
This robe has a colourful floral pattern again around the base of the kimono which goes up to the shoulder on some sections. There is very little decoration on the sleeves.
This kimono is very roomy at a size 24 and at £11.49, still an absolute bargain.
I love the wildflowers on this garment; the poppies, tulips and foliage. It is almost like a painting done on the material and it shows up really well on photographs too.
So, what did I pair the kimonos with?
For this review I wore a short little black dress which I will be reviewing on a separate blog but is pretty special too.
All in all, the three kimonos were a great purchase. With a total of £32.47, they really are a bargain and are extremely versatile.
I know I will wear these over a simple dress, with a co-ordinating top and trouser set or even over a swimsuit for glamorous days around a swimming pool. They go with so many items I already own that I consider them a real bonus to my wardrobe.
A pair of jeans and a simple camisole would work too…
I just need to find a pair of jeans now as I don’t own a pair!
Till next time
