This past weekend I had a bit of a shock when it came to organising the spare room.
When I say ‘spare room’ I mean what has, in essence, turned into my dressing room. I have hats, shoes, bags, hair accessories and clothes in there.
A LOT OF CLOTHES.
I have to admit that I genuinely didn’t realise I had that much. It was only when I was sat on the bed with every single article of clothing from the room, that I couldn’t even see over the pile. It was that big a mound of clothing.
Two and a half hours later, every single item had been sorted and either kept or put for selling. Those that were kept then had to be sorted into either being put on a massive dress rack or into one of four wardrobes.
By the time I had finished, I had filled the rack, all of the wardrobes and there were two massive suitcases filled with the items that I plan to sell.
What it also meant was that I found four or five outfits that I hadn’t reviewed OR photographed.
Bonus!
So here we go with the first one. A stunning black and floral fitted dress with lovely rose embroidery across the waistline and down one of the lapels.
The Dress is a stunning crossover front with wide lapels that separate at the back to form a split collar. The waist and hips are snugly fitted and the bottom of the dress kicks out a little into a bit of a fishtail.
I have to admit, I was a little dubious as the dress was very snug around my tummy and hips and this has always been something that I am a bit self conscious about. However, in the general scheme of things, is having a visible tummy bulge that bad a thing?
For a lot of people it would be the worst thing ever. For others, it is an attractive attribute. In many cultures it is seen as a sign of fertility, womanliness and bountiful health.
In the Western World it is usually abhorred and castigated as obesity; absolutely disgusting, in fact.
Given these general opinions, it usually takes a strong ‘kick-ass’ person to rock that look with confidence and a ‘couldn’t care less’ attitude.
I certainly haven’t had that attitude in the past and I am not quite sure that I have totally achieved it quite just yet, but I actually really love this dress, enjoyed matching all the accessories and flowers and felt great in the dress itself.
Priced at just £19.99, it is a fantastic quality dress at a bargain price. You really cannot go wrong with this outfit at all.
Whilst not a completely vintage style, the cut and design of the dress does have a bit of an olden feel to it. The flared out bottom matched perfectly with the little t-bar shoes and I think the addition of some seamed stockings could suit the look really well.
Having the addition of the matching hair flowers is a perfect look however I do have several black hats with pink or red accents that are original 40’s era which could make a beautiful alternative look. In the meantime I thought the Shein netted beret gave it a certain French ‘je ne sais quoi’
I know that this will be a ‘go-to’ outfit once the lockdown is lifted slightly as I think it would be a perfect look for a nice afternoon out.
Anyone fancy lunch?
Till next time,
