A few weeks ago I placed an order with Shein for a couple of wigs, a blue glittery dress and a bodysuit.
Now, bodysuits are not really something I usually wear, mainly as they can be really uncomfortable, a pain to get on and off when you need a wee and really hard to do up the poppers on the crotch!
However I really liked the styling of this particular one so decided that I would give it a punt.
The Dobby Mesh Sleeve Bodysuit was only £7.49 and as I had a discount coupon, it took the price even lower to just £5.38. Well, you couldn’t say much better than that, so in the basket it went.
When it arrived, I was really thrilled with the quality and the sizing of the item.
As I have mentioned previously, Shein is probably the best website out there for size guidance.
EVERY single item is measured, shown in both inches and centimetres and the models statistics such as height are show for comparison too.
The important thing to remember with this is to check the size guides before making any purchase. The reason for this is depending on the style, cut and shaping, you won’t always need as big a size as you normally order.
Likewise, some items in your normal size may well not be big enough.
By checking every size before ordering, you can tell whether an item will work for you or not.
I ordered this in a size 26, my normal size. It fitted perfectly, as the sizing guide said it would, however I didn’t take into account the fact that it was high stretch.
What I mean by this is that whilst it fitted like a dream, I could have probably sized down by one or two sizes if I wanted a clingier fit.
Now what exactly was I going to wear the bodysuit with?
Ideally I wanted to pair it with a smart pair of trousers. But these are very few and far between in my wardrobe.
But of course, I did have the wide, pin-striped, braced, high waisted trousers that I had used for a recent Murder Mystery game, which you can read about here.
Whilst I absolutely adore these trousers, they are MASSIVELY long on me and I am more than aware that I need to get them altered.
However as we have been in a lockdown/pandemic situation for so many months now, this has been unable to happen.
As soon as the wonderful seamstress I use is open again, I will be taking a whole heap of clothing to get sorted out as pretty much all of the items I have bought recently are too big in one way or another.
Anyway, I digress. The trousers are so long on me, but I really wanted to see how it went with the bodysuit.
I added some black t-bar shoes from Hotter and a short almost white bobbed wig from Shein.
Simple, yet effective.
Did it work?
Well, I absolutely loved the overall look. Given that the trousers need about 18″ taken off the length and then possibly some of the width along with it.
To be honest, although I am a large plus size woman, my legs are quite shaped and not overly large. Whilst this is not necessarily a bad thing, trousers that fit the waist are very often massive on the leg width and length.
This is certainly the case with these. They swamp me pretty much in every direction, however I am too impatient to keep them for later photographs.
As I said, these will be one of the first things going to the seamstress as I really want to wear them somewhere other than the house!
The bodysuit is so comfortable to wear. The length of the body is such that it does not bunch up in the crotch and buttock area, nor does it bag and flap around.
At the beginning of this post I stated that I didn’t wear bodysuits very often due to them being uncomfortable. Well, this one cancels that one out straight away.
Having to take the whole thing off to go to the toilet by taking it off from the top half is just impractical but undoing and redoing the poppers on a bodysuit is usually even more of a nightmare.
With this bodysuit, it was stretchy enough that pulling down the body was a doddle, and the poppers were not needed.
However, if I did decide to undo the poppers, they were of a substantial size and strength that they popped easily yet stayed popped.
The dotty mesh sleeves made the plain bodysuit stand out and were really cute too. The bodysuit has a sweetheart neckline, which not only flatters but gives an elegant silhouette.
I have to say, I am a big fan of this bodysuit and I wish they did it in more colours as I would purchase one in every colour.
Looking on the website it is now limited in availability with some sizes sold out, but if this takes your fancy, I would hurry and check it out.
Alternatively, if you put it on your wishlist, you will get a notification when it is back in stock.
Can’t get easier than that.
Till next time,
