I have always loved a bit of nautical themed clothing.
In the past have had stripy tops and wide legged culottes, dresses with anchors and ships wheels on and even a marvellous dress covered in mermaids.
Give me a gorgeous print and I am in my element but sometimes a simplistic look is even better as you can jazz it up with accessories.
So, quite how was I planning on doing that?
Well I found this fabulous top on Shein and thought it was right up my street.
The Plus Asymmetric Sailor Collar Blouse is available in navy blue and burgundy at the fabulous price of just £13.99.
I chose the Navy version as I have more items to compliment it.
My intended look would be the navy and white top, navy trousers, red earrings and brooch, red shoes and a rather nifty red bag.
In a previous order from Shein I had spotted these fabulous red crab earrings and as a Cancerian, I just couldn’t resist.
I also have a fantastic brooch from Luxulite that I got for my birthday – The Don’t Worry Be Crabby, which is sadly now out of stock.
Now given that the brooch isn’t a match for the earrings, I certainly wouldn’t wear them at the same time however it will be fun to mix and match depending how I feel.
The blouse arrived with a couple of other items (a bikini, a mustard top and several pairs of earrings) and I was eager to try it out.
I thought from the look of it, it would be a jersey mix, however it was a lovely crepe/poly material with white cotton embellishments.
So how did it look?
Well, the material is non-stretch so it is quite a snug fit, however that is exactly what I need with my high waisted trousers as excess material makes them bunch out.
I ordered a 5XL and recommend you check the measurements in the size guide to be absolutely sure.
My high waisted trousers were a purchase a couple of years ago from Unique Vintage and are still going strong. They have travelled to various parts of Europe and have since become a staple in my work wardrobe.
In this case, I am going to reclaim them as my leisure wardrobe as they match so many of my outfits.
It was as I was taking the photographs for this blog that I remembered these really cool earring that I also got from Shein – The Iridescent Jellyfish were at the amazing price of just £1.50. An absolute Bargain!
I think that all I need to go with this outfit is a nifty little sailors hat/hair accessory. Some might think that a little OTT but I do love to accessorise to the max.
I might have to go searching on the internet to see what I can find!
Till next time,
