My third choice from the Shein Curve range was one that I really liked but wasn’t massively sure would suit me due to the simplistic design and style.
The Doll Collar shirt dress in Navy Blue ‘spoke’ to me though and as I have previously said, I tend to gravitate towards more of the vintage offerings from Shein to keep in line with my personal style.
A style from yesteryear
As soon as I saw this dress, I thought it fit the vintage era perfectly and so it went onto the email to the lovely Jessy.
When the dress arrived it was a lot darker than I anticipated. On the website it was a navy blue, but on arrival it was a very dark navy, almost black.
Pretty as a Picture
This meant that I completely changed just how I would style the dress. Initially I was thinking red and white accessories with red hair flowers but it was so dark that it just didn’t seem like it would go together. I then decided to go down the simplistic route; Pearls and nothing else.
The dress, I have to say is of great quality. The material is heavy enough to sit beautifully, yet thin enough to keep you cool (without being see-thru). I am wearing a size 5XL and there is plenty of room and give in the garment.
Plenty of Room
The large Peter Pan collar and frilly cuffs are a lovely white material that sits very nicely on the navy base. There are a row of faux buttons down the front which give it a lovely effect.

I also must apologise for the dress being exceedingly creased; I would normally run an iron over the dress however it was the hottest day of the year so far and I was sweltering.
The heat was getting to me a little, there was sweat running down my neck and forehead and I didn’t want to melt my makeup off by putting a hot iron on to smooth the dress out.
From the Rear
I decided to take the photographs as it was but standing out in the sun really highlighted the creases! However, time was of the essence when it came to posting and the forecast wasn’t brilliant for the following days, so I went with it.
So, what did I think to the look of the dress?
Pose!
It is a lovely design which certainly harks back to yesteryear. I will admit it was a bit dark for my liking, almost funerial. I could also see it being worn for a smart/casual evening event or a work meeting.
Cute Collar
Whilst it is not one of my favourite items to have reviewed, it certainly is far more practical than a lot of the ones I have preferred. It is ideal for work and certainly I can see myself wearing it for that reason.
Pilgrim Mothers?
To be honest, as I sit writing this, I think I am being quite harsh on this dress. I swore a few years back that I would never wear big baggy black clothing again and this is such a dark colour, that my prejudice has come to the front of my mind.
It really is a gorgeous, high quality dress and deserves more praise than I am giving it!
