Recently I had been sent a few items to review from my partnership with Shein Clothing and I have shared the first of these already, a ditsy floral dress. If you missed it, you can see if here
My second choice was a bit of an unusual one for me.
I have a plethora of dresses in my dressing room, yet only around 10 skirts, most of which are 1950’s circle skirts. For each of those skirts, I have a matching top and wear as a specific set.
Yet I had spotted a green floral pleated skirt on the website and I absolutely loved it! I asked for it as part of the review pieces, yet I genuinely didn’t know quite what I would pair it with.
The main reason for this is not having a huge amount of blouses or tops that would compliment it at all. In fact, I couldn’t come up with a single item from memory that would match the skirt.
But I didn’t care. I really liked the item and so added it to my list of choices.
When it arrived, it was as cute as I hope it to be; olive green with pink and blue flowers all over it. The pleating is very thin vertical pleats which give a huge amount of style AND volume to the garment.
The skirt features an elasticated waist and I had asked for 5XL. The waistband in that size stretches from 40.9 inches to 59.1 inches which is a huge range.
In fact, based on measurements, I could have asked for a 4XL or even a 3XL as both of these would have fitted around my waist. However, I decided to go with a 5XL as I thought the hip section of that size would be more suitable and comfortable for me.
The skirt is beautifully long. At 5ft tall, everything is usually a bit long on me, but I like that.
I still had the problem of what to put with it though.
In the end, it was a little bit random.
I had bought some white and nude vest style tops from Primark. These were to wear under slightly revealing clothing and when I have to wear something slightly see thru which may reveal a dark bra. Costing just £3 each, I had grabbed 4 or 5 on a recent trip to Birmingham.
One of them was a nude wide strapped vest top and it seemed to match the some of the colour within the flowers on the skirt. In fact, it was almost a perfect match!
Adding a pair of gold kitten heels, bag, earrings, a necklace and some bangles, I was ready for anything.
I genuinely felt great in this combination; a lunch date, sitting in the garden or even a walk in the local park with the dog on a sunny day, this outfit really works for almost any occasion.
Priced at just £15.99 it is a brilliant bargain for a quality, well made skirt. Given the colours of the flowers, you could mix and match the tops with three or four different shades and this gives great adaptability.
After all, who doesn’t love a skirt that you can change up in several ways? Especially one that is as great value as this one!
Till next time,
