If you are a long time follower, you will know of my love for the 1930’s style Beach Pyjama.
In the past I have managed to get a few long length kimono’s that I combined with trousers I already owned to make a set.
Whilst I loved them and got a lot of wear out of them, they weren’t quite perfect.
So you can imagine my delight when I saw several kimono and trouser sets available on fast fashion site, Shein. I had to put in an order, I just couldn’t miss out on them!
About ten days later a large parcel arrived which had a few bits and pieces in, but had two sets of beach pyjamas which I was really excited about.
The first set was a pretty white floral duo which had was covered in pink sprigs of flowers and had a black stripe down the side of the trouser legs and all along the edge of the kimono.
I really loved the floral pattern on this set as it reminded me of a Japanese print I had seen many years ago. On arrival, I have to say that the flowers are more poppy like, but still beautiful and very ornate.
The black stripe gives a total contrast as it is so severe. I love it on the kimono edge but I am not too sure about the trousers as it looks a bit too severe in my opinion.
However, when worn together, it really does look fantastic.
I am wearing a size 24 which is the largest size available. I would prefer it to be a bit looser around my tummy/hip area but as my hips measure 60″, it is a pretty good fit.
Priced at £24.49, it is very reasonably priced, especially as you are getting the two pieces.
Of course with Shein, there are various discounts and with the 20% they were offering, I managed to get this for £19.43
Bargain, really!
The second set was more to my liking.
A geometric patterned design in orange, tan, cream and brown which had a very vintage feel to it.
This set really ticked all the boxes with me; wide legged, loose kimono, interesting pattern and I already knew what accessories I would pair it up with.
In this case, brown and cream bangles, orange earrings, brown kelly bag and brown lulu hun shoes.
Oh and I threw in a beigey-brown floral turban to set it all off.
So, how did this one compare to the first?
Well, my first impressions were correct. I absolutely loved the pattern and it was so loose and floaty. My accessories made a perfect match and I know I also have several other options that I could pair the outfit with.
This set was priced at £24.99 which again was reduced by 20% making it £19.64.
Again I am wearing a size 24, which fits lovely, yet I would love it to have another couple of inches across the tummy. There is no actual need for this, but an issue of self-confidence.
Whilst I love my body, since the COVID pandemic, I have put a fair amount of weight on. This seems to have all migrated to my tummy, which was large enough to start off with. In the past my boobs stuck out more than my tummy, giving me some kind of shape. Now they are pretty much in line and some of my clothing is tighter than I would like.
This is something that I intend on address as soon as I am more physically able. Until then, I am happy with how I styled this and how it looks. I wore it for a whole day out and it was both comfortable, stylish and cool (and I mean temperature wise)
Sadly this outfit is sold out at the moment, but will hopefully come back into stock. Until then, Shein have several kimono sets on their site at the moment including this beauty, a Striped, Tropical Flower set.
I might just have to add that to my next order!
Oh and if you wonder why every photograph has Theodorable in, he had overdone it on a walk and slumped in the shade of the gazebo for several hours…
Till next time,
