As you know, I recently spent a weekend at Twinwood and had an absolute blast!
Of course, the music is one of the main reasons to attend, but so is the shopping. You literally can get everything from a full three-piece suit to a lace handkerchief, a pair of braces to French knickers.
It really is a wonderland of delights and I had saved up over the year to make sure I had some pennies with me for a purchase or two.
So, what exactly did I buy?
Well I had gone to the event with a list of a few things that I needed; a teal hair flower, a chartreuse hair flower and a pair of braces.
That was literally it.
It was a bit odd then that the first purchase I made was a gorgeous silk tie from Twintage.
Navy blue with a red pattern, I thought it would be perfect with a pair of high waisted trousers and a spear-pointed shirt I already owned. Chatting to Kitty and Susie was also lovely, and I was chuffed with the item and thought I might wear it over the weekend.
Moving on I found myself at Alice Browns Cupboard. Now, Anna the owner is an absolute darling. I have a stunning velvet turban from her and I found myself intrigued by a lovely little green tilt hat which would be a perfect match for a green 1940’s jumpsuit that I already own.
It had a really cute pointed crown and purple/fuchsia flowers on either side and was a great price too.
I spotted a pair of teal gloves which would match my Pake-Muu and all its accessories, so I popped them in my basket too.
Anna also had a big box of thin bangles of all colours. They were the kind that I love to use as ‘spacers’ between wider bangles and normally I would pay around £3 – £4 each. She had the most amazing deal on though and so I had to take advantage…
The offer was 12 for £10.
What a bargain!
Of course I had to get 12 and Anna threw in a couple of extras as a bonus. Brilliant!
Moving on outside of the Colonial Club I hit Timebomb Vintage to see Mickey and Fiona Monti-Columbi. Now, normally I head there to look at bags and hats. This time I was looking for braces.
Mickey has an amazing line of men’s accessories and I knew he would probably be able to sort me out with some braces to go with the high waisted trousers and tie combo.
I found a perfect pair in navy blue which was a total bargain at £5.
My next purchases involved lovely ladies at Shazam. I had teal flowers on my list and as I arrived at the stall I could see an array of teal hanging up on a massive trellis.
Of course, I got side-lined talking to them all whilst picking up pretties and adding them to the pile. They were exceedingly helpful in suggesting options to go with a lime/chartreuse dress that I wanted to wear on Sunday evening.
Final total – 10 hair nets, 1 teal and orchid flower, 1 double lily flower, 1 teal and cream cascade flower and the piece de resistance, a hairpiece and corsage duo in a maroon so dark it is almost black and lime/chartreuse accents.
Saturday night saw me changing into a party dress and I had all my accessories ready to wear. However, when it came to putting them on, I had misplaced one of my vintage diamante earrings.
Absolutely gutting.
Thankfully I was sat near to Twintage and so grabbed a pair of diamante danglers to accentuate the dress. Of course, the missing earring turned up immediately. Not a problem though as the dangling drops were very pretty and unlike any others I own.
My final purchase of the weekend involved Mickey again.
Sunday saw me in a man-style outfit with the braces I had bought the previous day. However, the clip was a very specific style and the trousers I was wearing were not really conducive to keeping them attached.
I popped back to Mickey and got another couple of pairs of braces – this time a patterned navy pair and a red pair (just for future usage).
Feeling very pleased with myself over my bargains, I managed to wear a fair old few of them over the weekend and cannot wait to have another event soon to show off the rest.
So, what do you think? Was I a savvy shopper? Do you like what I got?
Till next time.
