For many of you vintage aficionados you will have been as dismayed as I when I received the email to say that Miss L Fire were closing down.
Having been a lover (and wearer) of their shoes, it was a bit of a shock, given that they were one of the first vintage reproduction shoe companies I had ever been introduced to.
The only bonus (if you can call it that) was that Miss L Fire advertised a huge sale of all their remaining stock.
Of course, I could hardly miss out, given that I have lusted after the Loretta shoes for quite a long time.
I absolutely loved them and had wanted some for a long time. There was just a couple of issues that stopped me from purchasing.
Firstly the fact that I am not able to wear high heels very easily, due to that dratted knee injury that has plagued me and made it a little pointless.
Secondly the price point of £100 – £180 a pair is a large amount of money for something that I would wear rarely. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t disagree with the price, Quality costs.
However with the leg injury I wouldn’t be able to wear the heels daily, maybe not even monthly. Therefore, they would sit in a box and I really couldn’t justify OR afford the outlay.
I did mention earlier that I have been/am a wearer of Miss L Fire; a gorgeous creamy pair of low heeled sandals. The design of them is so very pretty and they have had lots of wear.
Those were infinitely more practical than the Loretta’s. Made of leather with that much lower heel, I have been able to wear them for both Summery and more formal events.
But I still lusted after Loretta.
So with only eight days to go until closing, I headed onto the website to see just what was available.
And immediately my eyes were drawn to the most stunning violet pair. As it happens, I already had the perfect dress and hat, but had been looking for the shoes for quite awhile.
Right there in front of me was the pair I had needed all along.
Even better was the fact that they were down to just £55. An absolute bargain, I think anyone would agree.
A pair in Red *might* have just happened to fall into my basket, which I am reviewing for you here, now. These were slightly cheaper at £50.
Again, what a bargain!
I have to admit that the shoes exceeded all my expectations. The suede was butter soft, vibrant and beautiful. It was so soft in my hands that I couldn’t help but keep touching it.
Sliding my foot inside was almost orgasmic. The luxurious feel on my little trotters was just sublime and I was so thrilled to have purchased the lovely Loretta’s.
The colour was really so vibrant and I knew it was exactly what I was looking for to go with a deep teal blue dress that I have had for a few months but have still to show off.
I did premier the mustard version a month or so ago, and have been looking forward to showing off the teal version but had not been able to find all the accessories that I wanted to match it up with.
Whilst I have now found the perfect shoes, I am still looking for gloves, jewellery and a handbag.
Well, I have now commissioned a bag from the brilliant Doodlebug bags, who made my stunning turquoise bag for my Pake-Muu and the mustard/brown combo as shown above.
This time I am going for a half moon shaped clutch bag in the same vibrant colour as the shoes.
Of course, I now plan to wait until I have the whole outfit ready before showcasing it.
Until then,
