I have to admit to having a bit of a love/hate relationship with earrings and my ears.
A bit of a random thing to say, I guess. However unless you know of my history or have read my posts about my genetic flaws, you might not understand why I would say that.
Basically, I do not have defined ear lobes.
What I do have is a genetic condition called Fragile X syndrome. This is an issue where the X chromosome is corrupted, causing a multitude of issues including limited mental capacity, developmental issues, hypermobility, flat feet AND a lack of ear lobes.
By this I mean that the curve of my ear joins directly to the side of my head with no ‘dangly bit’.
No Earlobes
This causes two issues as such.
1. There is not a lot of room for ear piercing.
2. The lack of lobe means any piercing actually sits slightly angled. This means earrings do not tend to sit straight, poking out in odd directions.
Because of this, I pretty much stopped wearing earrings around 25 years ago. I didn’t like how most of them looked and it wasn’t much of an issue whether I wore them or not.
Fast forward to 2014 and my 40th birthday.
This was the moment that I unleashed my vintage loving persona on the World. If you know my story, you will know that was when I decided to wear just what I liked.
What I wanted to wear!
Big, bold dresses, petticoats, accessories and the like.
Fifties Fox
As soon as I entered this new World, I was wonderfully assaulted by all the styles, looks and vibrancy that I saw.
Ladies wearing the most stunning of outfits with complimentary accessories, especially bangles AND earrings!
I immediately started looking more at what I was going to put with the small collection of vintage style clothing that I had started to gather.
Bangles were the first on my list as they are really easy to get hold of, can cost pennies or many pounds and jazz up any outfit you wear, by adding a stack.
A Stack
Hitting all the big brands such as Splendette, Luxulite and Bow & Crossbones, I slowly but surely built up my collection of bangles.
Seeing many bangles had matching earrings, I started to get the odd pair here and there. Mainly reproduction lucite ones to match with my outfits.
A Sultry Stack
Since then, my collection has grown considerably and features everything from plastic to pearls, gaudy to glamorous. And a few weeks ago I increased that collection even more when I put in an order with Shein Clothing.
Bimbling about on their website, I came across a fair few bits of bling that caught my eye. I then started to think about what outfits they could be paired with, especially the Christmas gowns that I have been reviewing recently.
Talking about Christmas, there may have also been some specific Festive earrings, simply because I like them.
A Christmas Stack
First up is a pair that I instantly knew I wanted to match with the stunning green sparkly gown that I purchased from Shein last month.
The Rhinestone Geo Drop Earrings are designed with a gold metal base and feature emerald colour stones surrounded by white stones. The drops are varied in shape; starting with a vertical rectangle, an oval, a horizontal rectangle and a teardrop.
I loved the length of the earrings, which measure around 2.5 inches long. I found this to be both elegant without being gaudy, yet stunning enough to wear on their own without needing a necklace to match.
Elegant Emeralds
The initial price of £1.75 is great in itself, but of course there is also the discount on top of that, which gives you 15% off. This made the earrings only £1.38.
My second choice were the gorgeous Hot Pink Gemstone Fan Shaped Earrings.
In recent posts I have talked about a dark teal outfit that I am planning on complimenting with hot pink accessories. I already have the shoes, the bag and hair snood are being made for me and all I needed was some jewellery to go with it.
The hot pink earrings hit that brief, completely. The gemstones are the exact colour of my shoes and really sparkle.
At the discounted price of £1.19, these really are great quality and look far more expensive than they actually cost.
Pretty in Pink
Next on my list were a pair of earrings that I thought would be perfect with a stunning dress that I was gifted by the wonderful Roj at GatsbyLady.
That dress is a stunning art deco blush pink gown and so these Rhinestone Decor Drop Earrings would compliment it perfectly.
Beautiful Blush
The earrings are a combination of pale pink and white stones and look almost floral in design. Four teardrop shaped stones make up the top section which holds the earring post. Dropping down from that are multiple marquise shaped stones.
Before the discount they are only £1.49. After discount, these will cost you £1.19 which certainly won’t break the bank but look a million dollars.
My basket was made heavier with the next pair, the Pearl and Rhinestone Star Drop Earrings. I chose these to go with a Christmas gown that Shein had sent me to review.
That was a blue velvet dress which was covered in stars. I thought these earring would be a perfect match for the silver stars that bedeck the dress.
Stunning Stars
It was a good job that these only cost £1.00 (79p after discount) as I didn’t realise that the stars on the dress are actually GOLD!
On the plus side I can wear these earrings with other outfits so its not the end of the World. They are a great design with one large star edged in diamante, filled in with pearls and finished off with one large pearl half in the middle.
Still searching on the site, I came across an absolute pair of stunners; The Crystal Drop Earrings in Champagne
These completely captivated me with their sparkle and design. A teardrop shaped top holds the post, coming down to a large collection of dazzling stones in white, champagne and a brown topaz colour.
An elongated spray of gems come down into a point with the centre being a large topaz teardrop.
Classy Champagne
Now if the mix of browns doesn’t take your fancy, this particular design comes in 16 different colour/gemstone combination. Everything from purple to gunmetal to rainbow.
What is even better is that these earrings are only £2.25 before discount (£1.78 after) I may pop a couple of other colours in my next order!
Next on my list was a simple Rhinestone Decor Drop Earring.
Now when I saw simple, I mean in a glamorous gemstone kind of way. Five teardrop gems starting with hot pink, orange, yellow, then green and blue.
A veritable rainbow of colours.
Ravishing Rainbow
The drops measure just under 4 inches and whilst they are not as decorative as some of the others I have already showcased, they are very pretty and really catch the light.
At only £1.99 or £1.58 with the 15% discount, they are very classy yet affordable.
I had no issue with putting the next pair of earrings in the cart. In fact I have several outfits that I can wear them with including the stunning silver lurex Christmas party dress that I premiered recently.
The Decor Drop Earrings are elegant rococo style designs. The top area that holds the earring post is made up of two curlicues that join onto a flower, a sprinkle of random diamantes, a second flower before ending in a round crystal drop.
Delightful Deco
I chose the earrings in Silver (to go with the aforementioned gown) but they are also available in gold. Where as the silver option is only made up of white stones, the gold metal version has white and champagne stones and a champagne crystal drop.
Again they are an absolute steal at only £1.99, the 15% off knocks them down to just £1.58 and I can honestly say they look a whole lot more expensive than that!
A large dark green pair of Fan Tassel Style earrings were the next on my order list.
Made up of a green button stud and a large gold deco style metal fan, the fan has hundreds of emerald green threads spreading from the thickest part outwards.
Priced at just £1.oo, these earrings are an absolute steal. They are very elegant in styling and are surprisingly lighter than you might imagine. Of course, with the 15% discount, they were only 79 pence.
Fabulous Fans
I actually really liked the style of these earrings and would purchase them in other colours, but sadly it only comes in emerald green at this point.
However, I am not giving up hope that they may release more colours.
My final pair of gemstone beauties was a pair of multicoloured column earrings.
A long thin rectangle made up of numerous round, teardrop and marquise shaped stones in five or six different colours, randomly spread down the length.
The length of the earrings are just over 2.5 inches and the design manages to fit in a lot of stones in a relatively small space.
Glamorous Gemstones
These are the most expensive of the earrings I chose, at the scandalous price of £2.49!
Again, you need to remember the 15% discount, making the price even better at £1.97, which as with the other earrings, is so low.
I don’t have an outfit at the moment that I will wear these with; I just loved them and will work a whole outfit around the colours of the gemstones.
All of the Gemstone earrings I have showcased are less than £2.00, you might be mistaken in thinking that they are shoddy in workmanship or of a lower quality than other gemstone earrings.
However, I can categorically state that all of the earrings I purchased are of a very high standard. Each pair comes with both a small metal back AND a rubber security backing that you can choose to use or not.
The stones are clear, bright and beautifully cut. The metal used is shiny yet not brassy and with no rough edges or burrs.

Every single pair of earrings will give an elegant, sparkling look to any outfit. Whether you have a specific outfit in mind or wish to glam up a little black dress, you won’t go far wrong with any of these choices.
In fact, these are only a few of the amazing jewel bedecked earrings available on the website. You might end up putting more in your basket than you realise!.
