Over the last 8 months or so you may have seen blogs that mention the amazing creations made by Lisa over at Doodlebug Bags.

Using vintage patterns she crochets and knits her little fingers off creating the most beautiful bags, snoods, hats and more, all to order in the colours of your choice.

I first was introduced to Lisa by the wonderful Karen Harvey who was making my glorious Pake-Muu dress and told me about using Lisa to make items in the past which included the dress material to match perfectly.

Making contact, I asked if she would be able to crotchet a bag and line it with my dress material. She was more than willing and able to do so and I ordered a snood to match at the same time.

And thus, my bag and snood were created and I fell in love with Lisa’s work.

Vintage Vixens

Following on from that I found a crochet pattern and asked if she would make me a turban and matching bag in brown and mustard to go with a specific dress from the USA that I own.

Again I was blown away by the items and they were exactly what I wanted. Bands of the two colours crocheted in a circular bag and then the turban to match with mustard ribbon to tie and embellish in the way of your choosing.

Absolutely perfect.

It didn’t take too long before I made contact with Lisa again. This time I wanted a snood and bag to match a teal outfit and I had decided to try and compliment it with pink accessories!

Totally out of my comfort zone, but I am trying to use clashing yet complimentary colours such as the mustard and brown.

She again excelled completely with the stunning half moon shaped bag, with its cute little lucite zip pull and a beautiful little snood in a pretty pink cotton acrylic thread.

The bag itself is so masterful; a very solid creation yet that a delicateness to it, given the ‘ribbed’ lines of stitchwork involved. The addition of the snood goes perfectly in that it is a delicate knot work called a Juliet Snood

Knowing that Lisa has a waiting list for her creations, I also asked for a second snood to be made in a different design and featuring a strap that goes across the middle of the head.

This one was in a pillarbox red and had ‘berry’ like shapes in the section which encompasses the hair. Called a Petal Snood, the little bobbly sections allow the hair to fill them and give a beautful effect.

I find by using a couple of hair grips to secure the band across the head, it is very easy to then fill the pouch and make it as bulky as you wish.

This was perfectly illustrated when I added the snood to a wonderful handmade creation from Belbeina Lee; a holly berry half hat which complemented the red of the snood and gave a superb vintage look.

Given that hair accessories such as snoods are a fantastic vintage accessory, I knew it wouldn’t be too long before contacting Lisa again as I need more of her creations in a variety of colours.

So, what is going to be my next order?

Marvellous Mustard

I can honestly say i need more of the Petal Snoods so there is a navy and brown one coming up.

Oh and a topper hat with matching bag….

Christmas Cracker

I just need to let her know what colour I desire them in.
